To Understand Trump Talk, You Must Speak Outer Borough
The Federalist ^ | 1/8/18 | David Marcus

Posted on 01/08/2018 1:36:06 PM PST by Duke C.

Appearing on Fox News last week, actor Scott Baio explained a very important fact about President Trump’s rhetorical style. In responding to attacks on the president’s tone and and general fitness for office, Baio had this to say: “I’m going to help the media right now, okay, I’m going to try to help them…It’s not going to go anywhere, but I’m going to try to help them because they’ve called the president, the president has dementia, he’s and idiot, he’s not mature…I’m from Brooklyn, President Trump is from Queens. This is what we do. We mess with people. That’s it.”

People who understand Trump take him seriously but not literally. The media and liberals take him literally but not seriously.

Trump speak is genetic... as well as a New York influence. I understand him just fine.. most especially when he says something to all but is intended specifically sometimes just for one person. I am of Scottish and German descent.... Generally speaking we do not mince words.

NYC has so many different accents, which change from not just borough to borough, but often from neighborhood to neighborhood and street to street, but also from generation to generation!

I had NEVER heard an accent like Trump has and I knew/know people from different boroughs!

OTOH...I fully understand what he says and Tweets and THAT is just "normal" to me.

You get it too! :-)

Pres Trump has a great ability to communicate at all levels. His main concern is to get his message to the average Joe or Jane in a way so that every word can be understood.

The thumbs up used to annoy me. I’m over it. It works.

Born and raised in San Jose. I keep telling my son, President Trump was Portuguese in a previous life.

I understand everything he says and the way he says it. I grew up with that, just different accent.

Also, I think don’t discount what he says, don’t make him mad and especially, don’t stab him in the back.

That was a fun interview that Baio gave. Coming from the same place, he totally gets Trump and his demeanor.

“Snow flake America doesn’t get polite ball busting amongst friends and rivals.”

Reminds me of the scene in the movie “Gran Torino” where Eastwood is trying to teach the ways of the world to the kid and they go into the barbershop.

ABSOLUTELY!!!

I have known many aggressive, outspoken business leaders from the Island, and they are all B-busters. And very effective.

When a New Yorker is nice to you, he’s treating you like an inferior.

When he first started his campaign, my wife, who as a Christian, home schooling (retired) stay at home mom (mostly retired) is somewhat insulated was a little put off by Trump’s colorful vocabulary. I reminded her that she doesn’t really know anyone from New York City. I do, work with some and know others.

He’s remarkably sedate for the average builder from New York.

This article is exactly what all of us know but might serve to give to others, provided they ain’t too stupid to read it in under a week. See, I can do that hyperbole stuff too.

All one has to do is listen in on JFK controllers(the native NY variety)...and how they sometimes verbally abuse(particularly foreign carrier pilots)when they(pilots) simply ask to repeat/clarify an instruction...you'd think they said something derogatory about their(controllers)'mama's the way they fire back.

...I mean, some of these pilots have been in the air 10-15+hours+weather+traffic+2nd language issues, other stress...the NY guys don't care...blow a taxi call read-back, ask to repeat instruction...you get a native-NY arse-ripping you won't get at other major airports.

They're a different 'cat, that's for sure.

ENTJ personality type:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ENTJ

“ENTJs focus on the most efficient and organized means of performing a task. This quality, along with their goal orientation, often makes ENTJs superior leaders, both realistic and visionary in implementing a long-term plan. ENTJs tend to be fiercely independent in their decision making, having a strong will that insulates them against external influence. Generally highly competent, ENTJs analyze and structure the world around them in a logical and rational way. Due to this straightforward way of thinking, ENTJs tend to have the greatest difficulty of all the types in applying subjective considerations and emotional values into the decision-making process.

ENTJs often excel in business and other areas that require systems analysis, original thinking, and an economically savvy mind. They are dynamic and pragmatic problem solvers. They tend to have a high degree of confidence in their own abilities, making them assertive and outspoken. In their dealings with others, they are generally outgoing, charismatic, fair-minded, and unaffected by conflict or criticism. However, these qualities can make ENTJs appear arrogant, insensitive, and confrontational. They can overwhelm others with their energy and desire to order the world according to their own vision. As a result, they may seem intimidating, hasty, and controlling...”
