Chuck Todd Grills Mnuchin: What Should I Tell My Kids When Trump Uses "Vulgarities"
RCP Video ^ | 3-11-2018 | Tim Hains

(snip) NBC's 'Meet the Press' host Chuck Todd repeatedly asked Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin about the president's attitude, language, and word choice.

President Trump made fun of the NBC host's "sleepy eyes" at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, and speculated that NBC might be "worse than CNN". "He's a sleeping son of a bitch, I'll tell you," Trump said about Chuck Todd's droopy eyes.

"I understand you wanted to get back on an economic message, but ... last night he was praising authoritarian figures in China and North Korea and encouraging boos at the American press," Chuck Todd reported. "Does this mean this American president is now longer going to be preaching about the values of freedom of the press and democracy around the world?"

The Treasury Secretary replied that he is on the show to talk about policy and wants to focus on that.

"If that's what we should be focused on, why can't the president focus on that, sir? ... Would you call last night's speech a focused speech?" Todd asked.

"I wasn't at the campaign rally, ..." Mnuchin stated.

Todd doubled down: "So should we stop covering the campaign rally? If it doesn't matter what he says there. If we're to dismiss everything he says at the campaign rally as you're trying to imply, are you saying we shouldn't cover these things?"

"You're putting words in my mouth," Mnuchin said. "You should obviously carry them because these are important moments for the president and this is news. What I'm trying to say is, I'm focused on the policies... What I came to talk about were the president's policies."

Asked for a question on policy, Chuck Todd asked one final question: "When [President Trump] uses vulgarity to talk about individuals, what are they supposed to tell their kids?"

Big Time.

I looked it up. George W. Bush was talking to Dick Cheney at an event, unaware that the mic was hot. Bush called Adam Clymer, a reporter for the New York Times, a major league asshole. Cheney replied, yeah, big time.

Clymer, that’s right. Why was I thinking Leahy ? Maybe a separate incident.

Reading these comments, you all sound like my husband.

I, however, have a different view. When I heard the President use that language, I turned to my husband and said “I wish he wouldn’t talk like that”.

It fell on deaf ears as usual because I say the same thing to my husband “I wish you wouldn’t use that language” but he continues to ignore me and continues to use that language. Hate to sound like a prude but there was a day when men didn’t use language like that (so I’ve heard).

Oh well. Men will be men... I suppose. :)

Probably not. This would have been around 1947.

My take is different, too.

All these Sunday talk shows (indeed, the whole tv punditry) do not serve to inform or enlighten the viewers, instead they are only there to further the Leftists’ “The Narrative”.

I am pretty sure NBC MTP booking Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin on the show to discuss Trump policies, esp. pertaining to his job and department (i.e. Treasury). And Mnuchin repeatedly asked the host to steer the discussion back on topics.

Yet Todd wouldn't budge, making Meet The Press out to be the supermarket tabloid on air show. What a waste of oxygen (for the man(!)), and a waste of time for Mnuchin and the rest of us.

You figure it out just like parents everywhere had to figure out how to explain to their kids about sexual improprieties and blow jobs thanks to bill Clinton and how to answer their children’s quesrions about how can Presidents lie like Bill Clinton did under oath and Obama did about Obamacare.

What stupid questions

Asked for a question on policy, Chuck Todd asked one final question: "When [President Trump] uses vulgarity to talk about individuals, what are they supposed to tell their kids?"

I 1998 parents had to explain to their teenagers that oral sex was really sex, even when the sitting (sometimes standing) Presibent was getting blow jobs in the Oval Office.

Agreed. I like that movie as a whole, TBH.

Redd Foxx (and Richard Pryor) would be dead not long after “Harlem Nights”.

Richard Pryor lingered for awhile from that awful degenerative disease which kept him from being able to perform (he had a bit part a decade later in David Lynch’s “Lost Highway”, but in bad shape in a wheelchair).

As for Redd Foxx, he went out like a trooper. Performing right up to his last moment of consciousness, collapsing in front of his co-star and friend Della Reese. Folks thought he was doing his “I’m comin’ to join you, Elizabeth !” routine. He wasn’t.
