Piccadilly after midnight.

Lots of sex freaks and inflatable farm animals.

Two things:

1. Mind the gap.

2. Look right, then left, when crossing the street.

The Ashmolean museum of Antiquities at Oxford. Google them, a lot of their treasures are online.

Check out the hatch from the Golden Hind at Barristers’Inn, especially if you’re a lawyer.

The Albany at Great Portland Street tube has great mushy peas.

“Westminster Abbey”. I agree, you MUST do this. There will be a loooong line, and it was “cash only” for the entry fee way back when I went on my honeymoon, so look into that before going. Plan on being inside for a long while because it is STUNNING. We did the little Thames River tour, it was OK - recommend if you have time. Be careful when crossing streets - the traffic comes from the wrong direction, LOL. And you must do Harrods.

Dining: the Indian foods tend to be much better than English foods.

- look right, then left, then right, then left, then right, then left
- tell your tea pourer in advance if you want cream otherwise she will add it without question
- don’t criticize the Royal Family - only natives can.
- use your credit/debit/atm card for money from atms - the exchange kiosks are ripoffs - let your bank know you are going before you go

The Royal Mews near Buckingham Palace. This is where they keep the royal carriages, the horses and some of the beautiful cars (Bentleys, RR, etc). Also, head over to Hyde Park (I think thats it someone correct me if I’m wrong) and maybe catch some of the rehearsals for the Trooping of the Color. We were there one year the end of May and got to watch a full dress rehearsal. It was amazing! They have a rehearsal at Buckingham Palace, too on a Saturday, I think. London is wonderful - enjoy!!

Agree. Just walking through the building and realizing the bodies buried beneath your feet and the history that building has seen.

Get insanely drunk and hang out for a day with a group of soccer hooligans. When will you ever get another chance?

Murray Head from the original cast is in it, playing the Arbiter.

The only annoying part is taking all day to get there.

Beats a week on a ship.

If you drink you may want to try lemonade and beer. Our 74 year old guide told us it is one of the national drinks. I don’t drink so I didn’t try it.

Have fun and stay safe. Spent a week in London before taking a 3-week bus tour of the British Isles in 2006. Went back the next year for 10 days.

Between both trips, I took a boat ride on the Thames. Visited Westminster Abbey, visited Churchill's War Rooms, spent a day at The Tower of London. Went to the British Museum, took an evening Jack the Ripper walking tour which left from Tower Hill. Took the train to Bletchley Park. Visited the National Gallery. Visited the Petrie Museum of Egyptology, and Sir John Soane's Museum. Toured Buckingham Palace which is usually only open during the summer when the Queen is away. My visit was in August.

There are plenty of day trips you can take by booking them at your hotel. I took a day trip to the Cotswolds, and Blenheim Palace (Churchill's ancestral home). Another day I took a day trip to Windsor Castle, and Hampton Court Palace.

Sure wish I could have visited the Imperial War Museum, The Natural History Museum, The Victoria and Albert Museum, plus many more places. There's just too many things to see, and so little time to see it in.

Not sure if you've been to London before, but some places won't let you take pictures. I had a ton of guide books and pamphlets that I'd collected on my first big trip in 2006. Had to put them all in my backpack, and they weighed a ton walking through Gatwick airport to get my flight home. Made me wish I'd packed them up, and mailed them all home.
