My daughter and her group were told to avoid Whitechapel.
She went anyway.......and quickly left.

Dining: the Indian foods tend to be much better than English foods.

Wow. The English foods must really suck. I didn't think Indian food was much better than anything.

The British Museum is a must. If you like zoos, take a canal boat into the London Zoo and you get in for free.

Following this post and comments...as I am traveling there this Fall. Safe travels and enjoy! (I am somewhat nervous about going there, now, given all that has been happening over there, recently.)

Visited both The Cliffs of Moher and The Giant’s Causeway back in 2006 when I took a 3-week bus tour of the British Isles. Great scenery...especially loved The Highlands, and the Isle of Skye, although there are so many other places in the inner and outer Hebrides that I’d love to see.

I loved it when the guide pointed out a picture of Lady Whoever and her two sons: “The Heir and the Spare”.
Also Churchill live there.

London is one of the easiest cities in the world to visit.
Q: What do the Pyramids and the Parthenon have in common?
A: They were both too big to put in the British Museum.

Ohhh, I didn’t do the Royal Mews - I heard about it from a ticket rep for the airline we used. It was based on her tip that I found out that Buckingham Palace was open for tours while we would be in England - so we went! Got super lucky as there were only two days left to tour, and it was a little “slow” that day. It was an AWESOME opportunity. I wanted to do the Mews also, but we ran short of time. :(
Really - how many people in the whole world can say they toured Buckingham Palace? *giggle*

Fortnam and Mason for tea and scones. It’s an old fashioned department store type structure. So many wonderful things to see there, on every level. Not to mention the adorable figures that emerge, on the hour, atop the front of the building.

There is an excellent fish and chips place , on a side street, just east of St Paul’s Cathedral.

You will truly enjoy the Churchill War Museum.

Have a great trip. Take your pillow and movies on your iPad, and have a good flight!

Don’t be nervous-——5 members of my family were there several weeks ago for the London Marathon-——they had a great time.

Also don’t forget to look RIGHT when crossing streets.
Instinctively , Americans look the wrong way.

We said “Look Right, Look Left...RUN!”

Also, make sure you take washcloths. If you haven’t been to Europe before, most hotels don’t provide washcloths.

Just “ Be Aware “ of your surroundings at all times + don’t let up no matter how comfortable you get. That’s what my parents told me, as I was going to go travel, just out of high school. NOW the world we live in, it’s so much more important.
