Ocasio-Cortez on ‘puzzling’ question of how to fund Medicare for All: ‘You just pay for it’
The Blaze ^ | 11/05/18 | Aaron Colen

**SNIP**

Ocasio-Cortez was asked last week whether she thought Medicare for All was too expensive. Here’s what she said:

“No, people often say, like, how are you going to pay for it and I find the question so puzzling because ‘How do you pay for something that’s more affordable? How do you pay for cheaper rent?’ You just pay for it. We’re paying more now.”

The people who vote for her think that’s a great answer, and they marvel at her intelligence.

It’s just a matter of digging up that extra few trillion dollars. We’re sitting on 800 billion spending deficit already. What can go wrong?

She is a moron. However, she could have said that the system as it exists now is a mess. We are in fact paying for the under and uninsured since they just go to the emergency room for medical care. You could argue that by eliminating the waste and fraud in medicare and rationalizing the payment system (thus eliminating the middle man - insurance companies) that the cost would not be anymore than we are paying now. Big if’s.

The payment system now is nuts. I get an MRI at the hospital. They bill me $1,000. The insurance company (and/or medicare) pays $125. I pay $20. The hospital eats the rest. If I am uninsured and poor, the hospital eats the whole bill, or sues me for $1,000. Nuts. Just sayin....

She reminds me of that old Steve Martin bit: Steve - how to become a millionaire, first - get a million dollars.

“That means, according to the Mercatus Center and Charles Blahous, a former economic adviser to George W. Bush and a trustee for Medicare during the Obama administration, that “a doubling of all currently projected federal individual and corporate income tax collections would be insufficient to finance the added federal costs of the plan.”

Medicare for All would result in $32.6 trillion in added cost

"She belongs in an assisted living facility for the intellectually impaired......not Congress."

Congress is an assisted living facility for the mentally impaired, and too many of us vote for those who should be in custodial care.

Might as well be, we all know colleges aren’t dealing in education anymore. All they teach is social justice nowadays.

Fixed it for you:

She belongs in an assisted living facility for the intellectually impaired, not such as Congress.

I don’t think she learned any historical outcomes from what flavor of economics she’s putting forth.

Perhaps a rudimentary intelligence test should be mandatory for all candidates.

For most practical purposes, she already won.
Running in such a deep blue district the Republican has no chance.

"I would rather be governed by the first 2000 people in the Boston telephone directory than by the 2000 people on the faculty of Harvard University."

She is stupid, but that's not the problem.

The 50% who pay taxes will pay for it. The other 50% will not thank them.

These days, no, not at all.

“That’s her inner bartender coming out.”

Open bar doesn’t last long at weddings and you won’t get top of the line Scotch. Medicare for all might end up being really cheap. Because providers will not be able to meet their overhead costs, they will exit the Medicare market or go out of business.

Everyone will have Medicare “insurance coverage” but few will provide services for Medicare covered patients. Last call for Medicare.
