A grand jury will hear the Jussie Smollett case early next week … law enforcement sources tell TMZ.
Law enforcement sources connected to the investigation tell TMZ, the 2 brothers who were arrested and then released are staying somewhere around the Loop in downtown Chicago under the watchful eye of police so no one gets to them. We’re told cops especially want to make sure Jussie does not contact the brothers.
We’re told when police raided the home of the 2 brothers they found magazines with pages torn out, and authorities are now trying to determine if the missing pages are connected to the threatening letter that was sent to Jussie 8 days before the alleged attack.
Our sources say early on they asked Jussie if he’d sign complaints against the 2 men who attacked him and he was clear that he would. But, when he found out the 2 brothers were the ones in custody we’re told he said he knew them, felt bad for them and declined to sign the complaints.
Our sources say although cops believe the brothers purchased the rope that was around Jussie’s neck after the incident, there is no surveillance video at the hardware store because it erases after a week.

IIRC...The brothers SHOWED the magazines to da fuzz, and TOLD them they’d used clippings from the pages to cobble up the hate letter Jussie instructed them to send him. It was part of what he paid them for. The brothers laid it all out for CPD.
Apparently, the Feds might have some interest in this because some magazines were found during execution of a search warrant with letters cut out, possibly matching a threat sent through the mail.
Jeff Sessions has recused himself...
Using the postal service to send himself life-threatening letters and powder (as a fake biological attack) is where he committed the big major felonies and could be looking at real hard time prison.
Chicago is a strange town. the hustlers get out the vote, but there are a lot of old school guys in Chicago that show up for a jury summons unlike the porch monkeys who only show up for free obozo phones. And, felony cases are Cook County cases which is a whole different ball of wax.
Seems likely to me.
TV said it could draw “years” in jail for this crime.

I think once money entered the situation...that was enough for a prosecutor to be sure on winning the court situation. If Smollett could reach the brothers before the grand jury situation, he could offer big cash (probably $100k) for them to forget incident. If this report is correct, the cops expect it, and will them hid till they can appear this week.
Just in court costs, his legal bill, and the fine...this will go beyond $100k. His lawyer will likely be working to get a deal...just admit guilt...get a reduced sentence and avoid higher costs for a longer case.
