Just recently made the switch to iPhone and am pleasantly surprised. The learning of new tech always interests me ... however... I have found that browsers on the iPhone, regardless of which one I use, are not very mobile-friendly. Text appears very small unless I turn it sideways and do not have obvious options to resize. Any help in this regard would be very much appreciated.
I’m still using a 6S. When I bought it, the 7 had just come out, and I did not want to lose the headphone jack. I keep phones until they stop working or cannot run current apps.
Right now I'm leaning Suburu Outbacak in large part due to their tremendous reviews of the all-wheel drive system as I do a lot of winter driving. Thanks for your tip to stay away from the turbo version.
I don't know who invented wireless charging, all I can say is that's the bomb.
GF bought me a wireless charger for Valentines Day for my S9. I freaking love it. So much more convenient than trying to get the case flap for the charging port open and plugging in the cable!
Off topic: I'm looking to replace my venerable, aging iPad Mini 2 with a Droid tablet. Asked our Security folks @ the large multi-national bank I work at which they prefer, Droid or iPad/iPhone. iPad/iPhone won hands down. I was looking for a cheap Droid to stream movies on while drifting off to sleep, am probably going to replace it with a refurb iPad from the local MicroCenter instead. Not much more than a decent Droid tablet anyway.
Loving my Hackintosh @ home too. :-)
My 11 Pro fits fine in my shirt pocket. The 11 Pro Plus, not so much. Theres a new iPhone SE coming out in March or April that is smaller. The iPhone 8 (available new) in standard size is only 5.45 X 2.65 compared to your iPhone 6 dimensions of 5.44 X 2.64. . . I suspect that 8 will be discontinued when the new SE comes out.
On the other hand, the iPhone 11 Pro has dimensions that are only slightly larger at 5.67 X 2.91. So you really have nothing to worry about in fitting in your shirt pocket. The pro has phenomenal cameras.
The Subaru all-wheel drive system is the best one out there short of a Jeep with a transfer case. They just quietly do what they need to do with no need of input from the driver. The one thing to watch out for is overconfidence in poor traction or not even noticing it until you have to stop or negotiate a sharp turn. Then, you can get yourself into trouble.
If you are using Safari, then hit the ellipse on tiny web pages.
Double tap screen or use your fingers in a pinch or reverse pinch to zoom in or out.

Any questions you have. Go to youtube, and type your question. Someone always does it. Make sure you put the iOS version.
Thats according to some company selling an add-on case that supposedly protects against such radiation. The US government testing labs debunked it quickly using both Apple submitted and government purchased examples of the devices in question. They dont.
It's possible that 2020 will be the year I make tha leap from quiet, cheap, reliable flip-phone to an iPhone (or other feature phone). BTW, all, Opera has become a Chinese product.
When I made a living fixing peoples computer (and phone) issues I was an Android and Windows fan.
When I started my own business and didn’t want to screw around with the tech any more - just wanted it to work - so I went Apple.
I am still having to deal with Windows because of some proprietary production software, but we go Apple when we can.
In our family and business we now have:
6 iPhones
3 Mac Minis
1 MacPro
4 Macbook Pros
1 Macbook Air
2 iMacs
3 AppleTVs
And the cool thing is they all work together. And by “work together” I don’t mean third party kludgy linkage that breaks when something gets updated.
No, but I have been developing websites since the 90s, and have witnessed the changing landscape among browsers over the years. It is my job to keep up-to-date with browser technology, and adjust the designs of new websites to display properly in all of them.
Before we unveil a design to a client, we have to test it on all major browsers. Safari is the odd man out, the only one which seems to break standards-compliant designs.
It should not be that difficult to convert FR to a mobile-friendly design. I suspect, that since FR was designed in the early days of the Internet -- before the concept of separating content from display became standard -- that the HTML is embedded in the PERL code. That would turn a simple template redesign into quite a chore.
nobody gives a damn about your utility bills, especially "the man".
The security model on the iPad/iPhone is far superior to what is available on any Android where the security is pasted on by third-party providers. On Apple, the security is in the hardware and is not accessible from outside at all. Not even the devices own processor can access the security data to be able to reveal anything about passcodes, unlocking, etc., to any attackers using external approaches via apps or external radios or app based attacks. The security is not even on the system bus, nor are those data available to the system processor. There is a dedicated processor for that purpose with its own memory and secure access.
Id be looking at Apples refurbed store for a iPad. You can save 10-15% on one with a new warranty where you can get a 5th generation iPad 128 GB, w/ GPS and w/cellular for $409 ($120 off). However, if you just want a WIFI capable iPad without cellular, the new version iPad 10.2 Retina screen 64GB version is $329 brand new. That would do what you want to do. It even supports the first generation Apple Pencil. The new iPad Mini is $399. . . So the bigger screen is the better buy.
I don't know who invented wireless charging, all I can say is that's the bomb.
Neither Apple or the Android makers invented inductive wireless charging. Thats been around for years for other purposes. Nicola Tesla pioneered the concept in the early part of the 20th Century. Android makers were first to implement it in their designs a couple of years or so before Apple put it in an iPhone.
I have saved thousands over the last 11 or so years. I cut off money going to companies that hate America and her traditions. What in the world is silly about that?
Back the OP’s complaint.... Geeze, really you're complaining about text size adjustment? That's all I have to say about that.
I retired my IPhone 5 under duress because I moved to Canada for a year and it was locked out of CA cell networks except at international roaming rates. A month into the CA gig, the iPhone 6 came out so I got a new phone with unlimited calling within CA and to the US. When I returned to the US, my CA phone was locked out of US networks except for the cursed international roaming. So, I got a trade-in credit for the CA phone that I put towards another iPhone 6. I use the heck out my phones and after several years, battery life crashed. A five minute diagnostic at the Apple Store showed that I had about 2500 recharge cycles on a battery rated for about 1000 cycles. LOL! About $80 lighter and 30 minutes later I had a new battery. 18 months later, the Lightning port got cranky so I got the iPhone 8, which I am still using.
Circling back to the iPhone 5, it rattled around in the junk drawer for several years and finally ended up in my then 2nd grade grand daughter's hands for game apps. Now she's a 5th grader still using the 5 and has a phone number to boot.
Wife and I have Android, kids have iPhones. We use Duo to video chat. Works on both platforms.
Some of us old people still like to use our PCs with a nice big monitor and a real keyboard.
iPhone 8 or greater charges wirelessly.
This recently added feature on my iPhone X made reading FreeRepublic a pleasure again before that had to take my iPad along on trips. Chrome, like all cr@pware seems to me like a virus itself tried it some time back trashed it within a week, no matter how many features they add, they all came at a price.
