The family of Robert Card, the man accused of shooting and killing 18 people in Lewiston, Maine, have shared several details with police about Robert’s “acute” mental health episodes the months leading up to the mass shooting.
In an exclusive report, NBC News reported Katie Card who is married to Robert’s brother, shared that Robert began to hear “horrible” voices talking about him just shortly after he was “fitted for high-powered hearing aids.”
Katie Card told NBC “He was picking up voices that he had never heard.
She continued “His mind was twisting them around. He was humiliated by the things that he thought were being said.”
As of 6 PM on Thursday night Card is still at large after gunning down and murdering over a dozen people in Maine.

I’d think so but as you say the story does not say, mine are the Starkey AI run about 5000 bucks apiece retail but the VA doesn’t pay that much for them.
Sounds to me like the relatives are placing the blame on hearing aids when they should have acted to get this guy the help he needed...
Try stirring salt water from the lagoon in coconuts.
Most people cannot recognize paranoid schizophrenia. They probably think he was just”following the road of his choice”, “doing his thing in his own time”...or mildly “eccentric”...or a druggie....he needed to be institutionalized for at least 3 months, maybe till the foreseeable future...until some smart persons maps out the brain lesions of schizophrenia....and kept away from knives, hammers, cars, and guns, matches..etc.
Could this be done with hearing aid? 🤔
I had an elderly patient once, who wore hearing aides. He was a mild mannered person, but he had some sort of history of a psych disorder. On Sunday morning his wife came and picked him up for church, and brought him back after supper. If I recall, she said he wasn’t himself. When I went to his room after she left, he was straddling his overbed table (the hospital table that can be pushed over the bed), which he had raised to the highest level. He was jabbering nonsense. I took his hearing aides out, and they were turned up full blast, and screeching something awful. I believe that screeching he had endured all day pushed him over the edge. He was sent to the psych ward, and we never saw him again.
lol I can still hear people bitching at me so I’m sure they are working..
Ban High powered hearing aides.
Is this one of those Bee things?
I’m at the marginal point of hearing loss and went to a hearing aid in 2013. What I’ll say for the year of use...you suddenly could hear conversations from 30 feet away in a restaurant.
I eventually reached a point where it was too distracting (sometimes even disturbing what the other private conversations were about)and gave up on the hearing aids.
Well, sorry, but I have to point out the obvious: His tinfoil hat, to block the signal is missing, or defective. (i.e. hole in it)
My dad after he got his would only spend a couple of minutes in the local bar. If there was a feed or something where time was involved he wouldn’t wear them.
Aids amplify an outside source. What are you talking about?
Were they CIA issue hearing aids?
