Now, there's something we agree on, but probably for different reasons.

I hate the language and the HUGE glaring fonts... what do you hate?
He made an extremely offensive connection once on the front page, which I won't repeat, that was far over-the-top gratuitously blasphemous. It had been a daily stop for me; I've boycotted it since.
That was the final straw. The constant, excessive juvenile language added up, along with the anti-Americanism. I graduated from junior high school. I don't long nostalgically for more locker-room see-how-BIGNBAD-I-am semi-pubescent language. Grow up, Harry. Your body did.

Hey Alkhin, The actor's commentaries can be really hit or miss... and sometimes annoying, but we are really enjoying Billy and Dom in the actor's commentaries....
What exactly did he say/post? I didnt make it much of a habit to go there myself, for the same reason. It was an obnoxious site.
Really don't want to repeat it, really wish it wasn't in my mind, no desire to put it in anyone else's. Not to be rude. Ask me a different q!

Showed hubby the mouth of Sauron scene...he went 'so whats the big deal?"
the mouth made me SHUDDER!! It was ghastly, utterly demonic and he went "so what's the big deal!?" ACK!
It didnt bother me that Aragorn played golf with the MoS's head...it was the only physical manifestation of the Dark Lord himself, so whacking the head off felt natural to me...I'd want to do that.
What is it about people that think kings just sit there all noble and not do something...well, HUMAN, like whack an enemy's head off??? People have weird ideas about what makes a person kingly or queenly.
the bad thing about this LOTR fandom is that it seems to bring out the real perverted in people...which is what I understand Tolkien had a problem with in the 60s. I remember one report that spoke of a young man who sincerely believed himself to be Frodo and kept calling Tolkien up to talk to him. Poor gentleman. All he wanted to do was tell a story...and people go off the deep end.
Then there's the Cassandra Claire idiocy. Whoever wrote that needs to get their priorities straight.
I wasn't offended that Aragorn offed his head either. It wasn't exactly cold blood, with the mouth guy sitting there exhaulting with pleasure the tortures Frodo endured.
To dovetail that, I think Arwen was the one continuous thread of how the elves were connected to this whole battle, especially in ROTK, because after the battle of the Hornburg, you dont see any more elves involved in the fighting and the stand against Sauron, with the exception of Galadriel helping Frodo, and novices to the story would have thought that the elves just dropped out of the whole story...with the exception of Legolas. Having a dying Arwen as the movie progresses just keeps the audience informed just what is at stake.
I am wondering about a scene of Arwen with Galadriel in Lorien. Why wasnt that included??
I noticed quite a bit that had not been put in the EE. Do you think PJ is planning an Ultimate EE DVD for release with EVERYTHING in it? Seems to be a way to keep the fires burning for LOTR.
I received mine this week but have to wait till spouse is no longer on late shift, and planning for a day long Sunday ROTK fest. So while I'm gnashing my teeth waiting, I've been watching some of the extras on the dvds 3&4 and I think a lot of the comments I've read on this thread may be answered by watching them - i.e., why no shire scouring, etc.
The first item on dvd 3 about Tolkien is to my mind the best of all, it really gives a deeper explanation of what it is all about. And as usual the sections on special effects, costumes, et al, are FABULOUS! Will Sunday never get here?
LSA got it for me yesterday, I worked late so only got the first disc viewed tonight. I'm thoroughly enjoying EE.
"...whole dying thing going? .... That dumb, inexplicable "reunion" .... Why is Elrond okay with his daughter marrying a guy who clearly completely forgot about her?
First, she had chosed a mortal life, so she was in the process of dying. Second, Elrond, at least now, knows that his daughter will not suffer from a Sauron victory. Third, Aragorn didn't forget Arwen, he believed she had left MiddleEarth.
There's lots of things I object to in the book to film- but this isn't so bad.
Ok, finally had a chance to watch it last night. There could have been so much more done with the Houses of Healing. I liked the drinking scene; it was amusing.
