SANTA FE -- A Santa Fe judge has granted a woman's request for a restraining order against television talk show host David Letterman.

Colleen Nestler of Santa Fe alleges Letterman used code words, gestures and eye expressions to convey his desire to marry her and train her as his co-host.

Letterman's attorneys want the restraining order quashed as being without merit.

That motion by Albuquerque attorney Pat Rogers says celebrities deserve to have their reputations and rights protected--quote--"when the occasional fan becomes dangerous or deluded."

Letterman's Los Angeles attorney calls the restraining order an abuse of the judicial process.

Nestler alleges Letterman forced her into bankruptcy and caused her mental cruelty and sleep deprivation since 1994.
