Hey Freepers:
I am tired of Chili and beef stew for awhile, can you recommend your favorite slow cooker recipe.
Something I can put on in the morning, and eat it when we get home. I have a family of 2 teenagers, and two adults.
Thank You for your help!!
Unnngh....that sounds awesome! Gotta try that!
Maybe a little too much work, but:
Brown lamb shanks in olive oil. Remove and place in crock pot. Brown onions, garlic and green peppers in same pan. Dump into crock pot. Add dried basil, thyme, oregano, parsley, salt and pepper (all to taste). Add a can of whole tomatoes. Poke the tomatoes with a spoon so they'll break up. Add a cup of red wine (or more if you like). Cook until done. It's almost impossible to overcook this. Serve over rice.
Those all sound good. I'm coming over to your house for dinner.
For later much needed recipes...
Chuck roast, potatoes, carrots, onions and a can of beef or chicken broth.
"Mock Cabbage Rolls:"
I always suspected a little diner I used to go to used tobacco leaf for that dish.
My favorite is "Swiss Steak"
3 lb Chuck roast
2 cans cream of mushroom soup
1 box of Swanson beef broth (this is the large size box--not the juice box size)
Salt and Pepper
Cook on low for about 12 hrs or until fork tender. The key to crock pot cooking is to get all of your ingredients in the pot and THEN turn it on. Don't turn it on and throw stuff in. And don't peek and release the heat in the early hours of cooking. Leave it alone!
You can reduce the "gravy" and put over just about anything. It's so good you'll want to eat it like a soup.
Bump for later
Browned cubed venison and beef, with white wine, applejuice, and flour. Add an assortment of cubed root vegetables on top. It's South African and called Potjki (pronounced poiky)
So many good recipes to try, and I hope more people see this tread and we get even more goodies.
Thank you all so much.
Why not try this....POT ROAST with onions and then add Potatoes and carrots cook it for about 6 hours or so and it will be soooo Tender it will melt in your mouth.
I also make CHILI and STEW.
MMMMMMmmmmmmm not im getting hungry....lol
Bump once more for a few more goodies ;)
