Anyone Interested in a FReeper Weight Loss and Exercise Thread? (Vanity)

A few of us were thinking of starting an on-going FReeper diet and fitness thread. It would be a place where we could discuss weight loss, diet, exercise, getting back in shape, encourage each other in our efforts to get healthy, and celebrate our successes.

Any fitness or activity level. 100+ pounds to lose or no weight to lose. Those who have lost weight and kept it off, please share with us what has worked for you. Maybe you love a certain activity, biking, skiing, rock climbing, walking, running, whatever, tell us about how it helps you stay in shape. Share your weight loss success. Just a place to exchange ideas about all things exercise and diet related.

Don't be shy! As Freepers we spend a whole bunch of time in front of our computers and more then a few of us could do with some exercise and probably a little weight loss.

NO VERBAL ATTACKS! NO NAME CALLING! NO BASHING! THE OVERWEIGHT! NO NASTY PICTURES POSTED! This will be a thread about getting healthy and no attacks will be tolerated.

Rush was once on a talk show after he lost weight and said he cut out sugars and starches. If I remember correctly he was fending off type 2 diabetes.

I'm sure all the dieters know about Mondays.

Uh-oh. Sounds like somebody's got a case of the Mondays.

I think it's a wonderful idea!

Sadly, this thread has already been ambushed by the jokesters & their sick pictures.

You have a good idea....

..Too bad no one seems willing to give it a chance.

If you pursue this, sign me on :)

I actually am a diabetic so I'm on a very low carb - no sugar diet. I walk 8 miles a day which helps also. I have lost 25 pounds on it so far.

sure. I have been doing the South Beach Diet. My mil has been on it for 4 years now, and she looks fantastic. I went on vacation, though, and need to get back on the wagon!

I dropped 100 pounds by cutting calories drastically. Didn't excercise much. Now I am doing a lot of situps to try to tone.

I'm not sure how safe my diet was, but the fact that the weight loss was so fast made it easier to stick to the diet.

Now I weigh myself every day to make sure I'm not creeping back upward. And I still don't eat a lot.

I am interested. Had lost significant weight four or five years ago, now starting to do it over again. We did it then by the low-carb method. Found the weight again with DQ, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Superbowl Suday, birthdays, weddings, etc., etc. etc.

Mrs. Designer is just now starting the South Beach Diet. I will try to become more active when the weather warms again.

I'm not sure about this. I gained 10 lbs. last year because I spend too much time (is there such a thing?) at FR. :)

I'll go next. I've always found that if I start concentrating on losing weight, I get hungry. What works for me is not eating - and walking everywhere I don't absolutely need a vehicle to get to. What I do for exercise fun is to use my step and a set of small handweights with music with a good beat blasting.
