Why Would Any God Fearing Conservative Have a Disdain for Islam?

Posted on 07/15/2006 10:48:32 AM PDT by Xing Daorong

I don't understand, some people say that Islam is responsible for terrorism today, rather than those who manipulate and perversely interpret Islam to further their murderous aims.

Islam is so similiar to Christianity that there isn't even a point to it, every quote showing "Judeao-Christian hatred" can be logically explained by anyone who has read the Quran.

We have groups like Muslims for Bush (now Muslims for America) a primarily Republican group of American muslims supporting the War on Terror.

I stick with the main page. Religious stuff do pop up from time to time that catches my interest, though.

To compare Islam and Nazism is to compare rabbits and lions, they cannot be compared because Islam would never tolerate what the Nazis did to innocent Russians, Slavs, Poles, Catholics, Jews, Gypsies, Homosexuals, and Handicapped.

How about those Armenians? How about the treatment of the Jews and Christians in Islamic lands? How about every other day when the mullahs say that they are going to slaughter all of the non-believers?

Again, you're having the argument with the wrong person. You need to go convince the millions of Muslims who condsider cutting off heads to be at the core of the religion that they're wrong. Even if you convince me, they still consider themselves the best kind of Muslim. As for your second comment give me the passage that says that.

Concerning Islam having a carnal playground for a heaven? Sure. Please explain the 72 virgins and the little boys. Are those for darning the heavenly socks, and playing checkers?

Very good. I don't agree Islam can cohabitate with other faiths, though. Some of the other FReepers here have articulated that eloquently. The ultimate issue is Islam truth? I have studied it now since 9/11 extensively. It is not. The critical works I have listed on my America At War site are just a small sampling of that criticism the academic community of our open society has produced since then. Muslims and Muslim apologists need to take heed. Those who are opposed to Islam do so from an informed position.

The solution? You know I am an Evangelical Protestant. I have gone to church at one of America's more aggressive Evangelical outfits for almost thirty years. Muslims need to be freed from the iron grip of this cult. They need to hear the Gospel. Until then, the wars will continue. Expansionist Islam guarantees that. Nonetheless, I appreciate your levelheadedness and grace.

I'm a Christian supporter of Israel and the Jewish people. We disagree on who the Messiah is. I believe it will be resolved to the benefit of all in the end. We are in His Hands!   !

I've read...
"Jihad in The West" by Paul Fregosia
and
"Hatred's Kingdom" by Dore Gold

I'm afraid the actions of Islamic over the centuries trumps any
exegesis of certain passages in The Koran.

But then, maybe that's just me.

I will add to my post 144.
I've worked with nice people that are Muslims.
It's just that after all I've read since 9-11...there are just too many
Muslims that take The Koran and other traditional books seriously.
And see them as manifests for holy war.
And have generally scared their peaceable co-congregants into silence/inaction.

Unfortunately for Islam, America is an open society with the freedom to critically and analytically study Islam and its history. I have. Many, many others here have as well. That being so, the American academic community and many other too numerous to list here, from Nonie Darwish to Ibn Warraq, have produced enough contemporary researech and historical study to refute pretty much anything Islam attempts to raise as truth.

The light shines in darkness, and the darkness comprehends it not. In an open society, the truth inevitably prevails. The super-majority at Free Republic, after engaging in objective and impartial study of Islam, have come to the same conclusion.

Me, I rejected our PC society's misplaced tolerance of Islam long ago. I am horrified at the belief system. These people need Jesus. If you invite your Muslim friend here, invite him to listen to our church's August event online. It will be in Arabic as well.

I read this post earlier, snickered and left.
In an open society, the truth inevitably prevails.
And since societies where Islamists rule tend to be closed...

When Islam was a new religion getting started, at some point they decided that they needed something written to make all followers know the same thing.

Somewhat like today, although worse, they were illiterate and couldn't write the new book for themselves. Enter the Jewish scribes being held captive. They adopted many many things from thier own writtings and incorporated them into the koran.

This is were there are similarities. "Similar" is far different from "the same".

2) Islam is in need of a "reformation" to purge it of some of its corrupt and ancient influences, just as has happened in the "Christian religions." It took some internal religious wars in Europe to remove the selling of injustices, to remove torture and execution of heretics, and to change a lot of things. Islam just needs to catch up to the age of enlightenment, so it can be tolerated by the rest of the modern world.

Beautifully stated.

Well, sure. They also are commonly found in the form of a book. They are written with the characters of a language. They both contain stories. Golly gee, there ARE similarities! :-)

"Intel, spies, observation. One thing we don't do is indiscriminately harass or kill people."

The first doesn't work that well. The rest... well, if they stand to be counted with the enemy, they are also the enemy. There were a lot of innocent Germans and Japanese killed by our bombs.... Such is war.

"They need to hear the Gospel. Until then, the wars will continue. "

Apostasy from Islam is still punishable by death because if it were not so, many would leave Islam for Christianity. I can't recall where, but after the Rahman escape in Afghanistan, a "cleric" over there essentially articulated that very idea.

We should also remember that many none-Arab Muslims do not know what is written in the Koran. They are taught it in Arabic - a language many do not understand.

"Yes. And we see their deeds despite idiot spin. :)"

It still works on the liberals, with whom they've made common cause. I'm not really sure why liberals would support the very people who would stone them to death first, but it must be some sort of "my enemy of my enemy is my friend" thing. The Left hates Western Civilization and so does Islam. The Left just chooses to ignore what would happen if Islam won. Europe may be finding that out fairly soon.

Where is NOW on the subject of the genital mutiliation of Muslim women, legalized wife beating sanction in Islamic Law, the "woman's testimony worth half a man's" thing, the "executed for adultery if raped" thing.... it goes on and on. They excuse it just as they did the actions of the Philanderer in Chief Bill, because real "women's rights" is not their goal. Same with the ACLU.

Due to the limits fo tech, we had nochoice but to bomb everyone. Now we have no excse. It's not foolproof but for the most part we hit the bad guys and leave the innocents alone.

I absolutely agree with that.

I did some research a week ago and the aggression of islam throughout time was something that can't be ignored or expalined away. Anyone that tries is deluded. Or has an ulterior motive.

Intel didn't stop the 7/7 bombing. In fact, those who knew the bombers were very surprised. Of course, those bombers had recently gotten more interested in their "faith"....

"It's not foolproof but for the most part we hit the bad guys and leave the innocents alone."

Can't be done. Not if we want to win this.

The troops, generals, and CINC seem to think otherwise. We'll see. If push comes to shove, so be it. But I highly doubt we are anywhere near this despereate situation where we have to employ drastic force.

"Give me the passages you are talking about and I will be glad to explain."

If you are Catholic, as you claim, just what basis do you have to explain anything? Just how do you have an understanding beyond ours?

Explain Sura 9.
