Art Buchwald: People shouldn't be judged by the length of their grass. In 2003 through now, the world has seen floods, famine, fire, mudslides, hurricanes, tornados and other disasters created by the unprecedented destruction of trees around the world. Trees are nature's weather stabilizers. We need trillions of trees.. new...

I don't understand, some people say that Islam is responsible for terrorism today, rather than those who manipulate and perversely interpret Islam to further their murderous aims. Islam is so similiar to Christianity that there isn't even a point to it, every quote showing "Judeao-Christian hatred" can be logically explained by anyone who has read the Quran. We have groups like Muslims for Bush (now Muslims for America) a primarily Republican group of American muslims supporting the War on Terror.

THESE ARE THE SENATORS WHO VOTED TO GIVE SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS TO ILLEGAL ALIENS REGARDLESS OF POLITICAL PARTY, THESE POLITICIANS NEED TO BE DEFEATED IN 2006, 2008 OR 2010, WHENEVER THEY NEXT COME UP FOR OFFICE. SEND THIS TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW; THE ENTIRE POPULATION OF THE UNITED STATES NEEDS TO KNOW THIS INFORMATION -- THAT IS, UNLESS THEY DO NOT MIND SHARING THEIR SOCIAL SECURITY WITH FOREIGN WORKERS WHO NEVER PAID INTO IT AND AMERICAN CITIZENS ARE BEING LEFT OUT. I am curious why none of the media covers the most important aspect of the Malvo shootings. If you look at Newspapers on the dates when the shootings are underway you discover something I find quite interesting. The shootings begin to dominate the news the day before the debate on the Iraq war starts and they catch them the day after the declaration of war??? If you ask most people "do you remember the debate about starting the second Iraq war", they will all answer "yes of course". But if you followup with the question "name one point in the...

I recently received a reply to a post that stated: "This should be beneath a "freeper". Sad." So I asked.. what is it that makes a FReeper? My reply (and I will admit was tasteless) was also questioning. It stirred controversy and was removed? Why Moderators? Can you not tell me? Did it not meet with your "FReeper" mentality? According to all posted guidelines it should be listed but no, you chose to delete it. Yes.. I'm the first one IBTZ, I'm sure you'll nick me for speaking up..

Bush is ruining Tony Blair’s career By Amitabh Pal May 9, 2006 Prime Minister Tony Blair’s “special relationship” with President Bush could very spell finis for his career. Blair is in trouble for a major cabinet reshuffle, the highlight being the firing of Foreign Secretary Jack Straw. A column in the London Independent asserts that Straw was dropped because of his opposition to a U.S. military assault on Iran. Straw had labeled the idea of a U.S. nuclear strike on Iran as “nuts” and had said that British action against Iran was “inconceivable.” Apparently, Bush wasn’t too amused. The cabinet...

Yaa, you repukes are not doing so well, huh? Imagine, you repukes control the presidency, both houses of Congress, and appointed 7 of the 9 Supreme Court justices. Yet the Supreme Court thre out sodomy laws in all 50 states and recognized the right of government to seize land for any reason. And you couldn't pass your Social Security changes could you? Sorry, that was your last shot. Come November, we're going to start seeing more Democratic faces in the House. It's the end for you guys. You guys are celebrating when Bush's numbers go *up* to 45%. Then Faux...

Bush’s giant Right Wing Noise Machine (RWNM) loves to preach about the Bush economic miracle. In fact, the RWNM’s current thinking is Bush doesn’t spend enough time talking about his economic triumphs. If only he did, then everyone would fall in line and believe in the great Bush economic miracle. There is one problem with this argument: it’s a lie. Any way you look at the Bush economy, it comes up short. Today, I want to compare Bush’s job creation record with other economic recoveries. As usual, Bush comes up way short. The national Bureau of Economic Research has identified...

Is it possible for a President of the United States to be sent to the Hague to be tried for war crimes? What would be the procedure for doing this?

Why does anybody support George w Bush as President? He is clearly the worst President I have ever seen -- a complete disaster. And before you say anything, I have been a registered Republican for 25 years.

Lies of omission about 9/11 -- stoking fears of terrorism THEY WANT YOU TO BE AFRAID The following post was censored by freerepublic.com shortly after it was posted on their "public" forum on 9/11/04. That forum is designed to appear as though it is a community forum open to all, but this post only received three responses before it and its replies were deleted, and a repeat posting at 4 am PST on 9/20/04 didn't stay online for 5 minutes! Someone is apparently watching closely over the content of the freerepublic.com forums and censoring them 24/7 (though they might have...

In Cal they are calliing it an utter disaster for Schwarzenegger! A career killer and it's being dubbed the "government employees victory". Seems New Jersey- Virgina, (a state that voted for Bush) and other areas the Democrats have stomped the Republicans. Just heard they are calling this a coast to coast KO. Many are saying they could have predicted this. I tend to agree. Is anyone really surprised?

It has been nine days since President Bush shocked the world with his nomination of Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court of the United States. Like so many, I have spent the past week trying to get a take and establish a position on this out-of-left-field selection. Many "conservatives," whatever that term means, have pointed out reasons to oppose the nomination. Whether it be cronyism, lack of a paper trail, poor legal qualifications, past political contributions, the reasons to not support her are varied and valid. As all of the cable news shows have ramped up their coverage of the...

The track George W. Bush has taken the Republican Party down is the exact opposite of the one I embraced when I became a Republican 15 years ago in high school. Just to say a bit about myself, I have worked for Republican legislators, worked on several Republican campaigns, attended the 1996 Republican National Convention in San Diego as part of the Young Voters Program. I have not voted for the president once, but twice. First of all, I became a Republican because I thought the party stood for fiscal responsibility and it opposed the concept of nation building. Yet,...

At the end of today's show Rush Limbaugh read an e-mail from a friend saying that a police officer had committed suicide after coming home and finding his wife and children raped and mutilated. This sounds like it is something out of a movie, I know. Either Rush or the media is wrong. So far, none of the stories have mentioned the rape and murder. According to this story: Standing on the stoop of an uncle's house in Baton Rouge, Thomas Accardo described a police-obsessed little brother while Paul's wife, Anne Accardo, stood by, covering her mouth with her hands...

Sounds like a good Idea… -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: good idea I hear we are going to hit close to $3.00 a gallon by the summer. Want gasoline prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action. Phillip Hollsworth, offered this good idea: This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a...

I recently became aware of a new game called Senate Seeker (www.senateseeker.com) through another conservative blog. You get to run for senate, but you must manage all aspects of the campaign, like speeches, advertising, fundraising, and endorsements. Once you are in senate you can vote on bills, or write your own. It's fun. I made an account called Eddie, and I'm actually an ex-Senator (I recently lost my seat while on vacation.) Hope you enjoy.

June 26, 2005 Guest Viewpoint: The party's over for betrayed Republican By James Chaney As of today, after 25 years, I am no longer a Republican. I take this step with deep regret, and with a deep sense of betrayal. I still believe in the vast power of markets to inspire ideas, motivate solutions and eliminate waste. I still believe in international vigilance and a strong defense, because this world will always be home to people who will avidly seek to take or destroy what we have built as a nation. I still believe in the protection of individuals and...

My background is probably atypical for a somewhat high-profile supporter of the right to keep and bear arms. I am black and grew up in Manhattan’s East Harlem, far removed from the great American gun culture of rural, white America. Although my voting patterns have become somewhat more conservative in recent years, I remain in my heart of hearts a 1960s Humphrey Democrat concerned with the plight of those most vulnerable in American society—minorities, the poor, the elderly, and single women—groups whose day-to-day realities are often overlooked in our public policy debates, people whose lives too often go unnoticed by...

I am very worried for Karl Rove. Ir appears he is going to jail, and I don't want him to end up in a bad place where bad things could happen to him (what were those bad federal prisons referred to in the movie "Office Space?") Can we start a petition to give to his sentencing judge to have him sent to a nice prison? Maybe he coould go where Martha Stewart went. Or is that just for women. Let's make sure he goes to a nice place, though.

This is the official smear campaign intended to smear Patrick Fitzgerald, the special prosecutor who wants to jail the Time reporters, and eventually Karl Rove. you are welcome to say that he received money for Saddam Hussein (warning. Didn't work with Galloway), or say that hte special prosecutor before him was a bad person, therefore he's bad (like we did to the Schiavo coroner). You may begin now.

Greenlighters are an emerging underground movement of sexually promiscuous teenagers, including bisexual, homosexual, and heterosexual members. Members of this movement wear a green polo shirt with the collar up, indicating that they are open to pretty much any sexual adventure. When someone comes up to them and puts the collar down, they are "collared" and will go with that person and do whatever sexual act they ask. Transfer of money is not usually involved. Some parent groups are starting to get involved - urging parents to go through their kids clothes and confiscate green shirts and polos. Supposedly this has...

Before I begin explaining my theory, can we all agree that illegal immigration is a problem that most Americans (even liberals are against it, most of the time) disagree with? I voted for G.W. Bush for his second term because I was most certain that such a "conservative" President would do us all a favor and stop the 15 million illegal immigrants in our country, sneaking into our country at the rate of 3 million per year. After all, if homeland security is so important during this unprecedented magnitude of war, surely securing the borders should be at the top...

First of all, I am not some internet idiot or troll. I am a licensed psychotherapist and family counselor with over 22 years experience. If you want me to fax credentials, contact me here: doctormichaelsmith@mymail.ph I come here because I am not sure where else to go. I honestly think President Bush is on the verge of a complete meltdown. He is displaying advanced stage dry drunk behavior, and needs to be placed in rehab immediately. He really would be better off if he was still drinking. Now, I know what you are thinking. But that's not the case. As...

Now, I know I may be sparking a little controversy with what could possibly be interpreted as a critique of the gun industry. I know how some touchy my fellow freepers can be. In fact, I know some of y’all might even label me a “communist traitor.” Sit still, my friends, and listen to all that I have to say before responding. First, let me make it clear that I LOVE the gun industry. I love all the different companies, models, and types of guns; from rifles to pistols to shotguns. I am a proud gun owner with a passionate...

My name is Jason Wilson, Iam currently enlisted in the United States army, Iam being Honorably Discharge from the US Army, for Mental/Physical medical conditions I gained from the U.S army. I served 13 months in Iraq, after I came back, I began my discharge from the U.S army, and I waved the medical board, because I did not want to wait for the long never ending process of the army trying to figure out if it was there fault cause I was broken, therfore I waved it to get my process out quickly. Currently I have 3 days left, and...

Hi everyone, My name is Pamela and i'm new to these boards. I was reading through the threads and i found alot of topics to be very interesting and controversial. So i thought, why not add another topic? :) My question to you all is, how do you feel about mainstream entertainment (i.e. - movies) depicting religious characters? A great example would be The Passion of the Christ. How do you all feel about those types of movies?

To: Fox News et al This morning, I turned on TV briefly (to catch the weather report, since we really need rain here in Tennessee) and I heard you discussing the self-outing of "Deep Throat" yesterday. At the end of your on-air discussion, you said, "If there's another Deep Throat out there, give us a call, won't you. We're waiting for your call." Yeah, bullsh*t. For the past eight months, thousands of people have been sending you information on the 2004 stolen election and you've been ignoring it like a burning herpes sore on your anus when your wife asks...

I hate George W. Bush. I'll say it again. I HATE GEORGE W. BUSH!! Yes, HATE. I think his policies rank him among the worst presidents in U.S. history. And, while I'm tempted to leave it at that, the truth is that I hate him for less substantive reasons, too. I hate the inequitable way he has come to his economic and political achievements and his utter lack of humility (disguised behind transparently false modesty) at having done so. His favorite answer to the question of nepotism--"I inherited half my father's friends and all his enemies"--conveys the laughable implication that...

Many argue that communism will never be possible because of "human nature". The essence of this false argument is the belief that a communist society would consist of an all-powerful central government that would tell everybody what to do--and would therefore undermine the creative initiative of individuals and the search for happiness. • This argument is based on two false assumptions: (1) It assumes that a communist society will look like the former Soviet Union, or the current China, North Korea, etc (ie: corrupt police states with a feudal-style ruling class) (2) It assumes that people will only work in...

Would one of you rightists please explain to this liberal, card-carrying member of the ACLU why George W. Bush is ignoring our border security and allowing a bunch of Wal*Mart shopping goobers to do the job that us taxpayers have paid the U.S. Border Patrol to do? What gives, cons? We on the left thought that you apologists were all for our national security interests. Has your patriotism become as selective as your morality; as you people let it be known in the Terri Schiavo piety circus? Keep looking the other way, I dare you. Keep ignoring this Latino vote-gathering...

The U.S. GOV'T is collaborating with the middle-eastern powers even as we are fighting with them. They are collaborating them in the area of gasoline, going around fixing prices and telling us that they have nothing to do with this, and that they can do nothing about this, I am here to prove that this is all a lie, and gas prices should be dropping to $1.50 $1.40 without them losing more than a penny!! It's all a conspiracy to keep the american public under the gun and to show us that the middle-eastern powers still control us even though...
