Read all my other posts.....it may give you a clue.

Hildy,
it hurts. That's the best way I can put it. It hurts a lot.
And no amount of "I really don't feel anything for her" doesn't do a damn thing to make it hurt less.

Why stay with someone who hurts you?

Well, that's the problem with us women, we think our feelings are more important than men's feelings and needs. It's irrational when you think about it. Of course you have a right to your feelings, and I hope you have a guy who realizes how fragile you are.

ROFL

Internet tough guy, er, girl, eh?

I'm on your side...I think. Unless you're trolling your fellow FReepers for laughs.

I'm just pointing out that you draw more flies with honey than vinegar, and you'll change more minds with reason than wrath.

All I said is that having a spouse into Porn is sad....sad for all combined.

I also said Porn brings a THIRD...OH OH I did caps....freeper police please have pity...person into the marriage. I said NOTHING about morals. That would have been too obvious!

Ya know,
I think you are wrong on this topic.

I don't think a woman is fragile if she's hurt by this.... I think she is 'effin' crazy if she puts up it....it's not about one person's feelings being more important than anothers, but simply knowing what is important to you.

And it's been quite the opposite...Its been in my life for a very long time.... and I won't do it anymore.

What if my wife and I make our own "porn" videos, with us as the actors, for our own personal (only) consumption?

It's like he exploded a bomb with his wife and children at arms length. Totally destructive. I have tracked Sara Evan career for 10 years. In her music and music videos, she alway tried to include her husband. In an hour long interview with CMT she always lovingly referred to her husband and children. If you grow apart and just cannot tolerate your spouse, why be so destructive to your own children and the good memories they may have cherished about their father? This will be those little childrens memories, especially the 7 year old.

Oh, he will come out and say he is entering an addiction clinic because he is addicted to porn, or some such nonsense. Christmas and Thanksgiving will be especially nice for the children, Craig. I hope you are proud of yourself.

i wonder if sara evans didn't have some inkling of what he was like. i suppose some women can be dense about it, or think it doesn't matter, but this type of off the wall perversion [i am sorry, i consider myself enlightened and not a prude but pix of his erect member stored on his computer makes him a dang pervert IMO] can't just come as a bolt out of the blue, it seems to me. i want my girls to be savvy about who they are dating/marrying etc. and my son too, for that matter. i am an excellent judge of character [i consider 21+ years of a wonderful marriage to my first and only husband- the meatloaf lover!] and i will teach them to be too, if i can.

we caught my 14 yo son having visited a few porn sites, and i didn't make a HUGE to-do about it, i said curiousity was natural and that he should just not make a habit of it, because if i thought he was making a habit of it, he would be whisked to Father O'Brien's ofc so fast his head would spin. Our pastor, prior to his retirement, would rail about the pervasiveness and danger of pornography from the pulpit every chance he got. No way that my son wanted to be brought to talk to him about this subject! i continue to monitor.

I honestly don't know.

You think you know what's going on, but later, when it all blows up, you realize that it was part ignorance and part self delusion.

It's traumatic, because from then on, you don't trust your judgement buying gum, much less picking men.

Dolly,

I didn't read all of the responses in this thread, so I won't try to address all of the fidelity/porn issues. I will say a couple of things. First, Sara Evans does seem to be the perfect woman. She's beautiful in a really neat way. She has a beautiful voice. She seems to be a nice person. I don't deny any of the feelings of admiration that guys have for her. Secondly, even people who seem to be perfect do some strange things during a divorce. Her fan base is made largely of people with conservative values. If the public impression is that she just got tired of her husband and is dumping him because he seems worthless, she'll lose some of her following. If she's not really such a nice person, she might be trying to preserve her fan base by smearing her husband with the kinds of things that could draw sympathy from her fans. I really don't put much credibility in these kinds of reports.

Bill

i imagine it is very devastating. i am sad for you that it happened. i am very lucky in that i have not really been exposed to those sorts of men. my parents were happily married til they died and my dad lived on another 10 years after my mom died. i distinctly recall him joking [at age 72] about finding a new woman, and then he said, but no, i could never do that, what would my grandchildren think if i replaced their grandma? i loved him so much for thinking that way, even though he was probably lonely. my brother has been happily married for almost 25 years. the men in my family and my husband's family are all very honorable men. i am very lucky.

thanks! i just wish i knew how to make it that way for everyone! if everyone would just operate thinking that their deepest darkest dastardliest deed would be known to their kids, their priest, the person they respect most in the world, people would behave better! how is this disgusting jerk that sara is dumping, going to look his little KIDS in the face when they are big enough to know exactly what kind of crap he pulled? it is all about the demise of shame. what would devastate me more than just about anything is having my kids lose respect for me.

"i want my girls to be savvy about who they are dating/marrying etc. and my son too."

I often think that the wife/husband in a relationship would always have some inkling or suspicion about someone who is straying. But from what I have seen portrayed by her husband on his sites when he was running for election, and the organizations he started and was a active member. They were all Christian, Conservative, GOP type connections. Even his look in the photos, is very mid-west, clean cut conservative. To me it seems that it may be a "have your cake and eat it too" situation. There's that food connection again!

I think that there are some people who get too big for their britches with money, power, lifestyle, etc. They then think that since they "have it all", what else is there to do but add some additional excitement. It seems the porn thing can start small and escalate quickly, depending on a person's character or state of mind. There are also those narcissistic types, who think that they can fool everyone and keep the charade going.

I totally agree with you on NOT making a big deal about your son's natural curiousity. I have two sons..ages 10 and 8 so my time is coming soon. But in reality...my husband and I are on the same page with the boys...it is not too difficult to discuss their questions in a way that they learn to be respectful gentlemen. Humor is always a great teacher as well...my guys know that they were breast fed as babies..and recently we had a discussion about the how's and why's. When discussed in a way that is both funny and infomative...they get it...and are always comfortable with questions. Even going to art museums where there are beautiful nude paintings, statues, etc. They giggle, and it is just a natural curiousity.

I have just heard of a couple whom our family knows. They have been married for 6 years, no children. The husband from a respectable family and he is a state police officer. They have worked to have a nice home and started to plan for a family. When going for a loan of some type, there was irregular info. on their credit report. Turns out the husband has about $25,000+ in outstanding charges to call-girls, porn sites, etc. If this all comes out...he would probably lose his job and much more. He has already left his wife for a pole dancer...still a secret from his job. The wife is a nice educated, georgeous, athletic young woman, who was really blindsided by this whole incident. So there are some snakes out there who can charm and lie to everyone. This guys parents just found out about a week ago and are really devastated. He is only in his early 30's with everything going for him...just still unbelievable for his wife and everyone who has recently found out. She kept it quiet for about a month to see if there was a way to reconcile. He had already had the bimbo in a nice cozy condo he was renting for her.

Great analogy of the total risks this guy was taking. Certainly the big picture when presented; just shows how devastating this is to not just the immediate family but to the other loved ones as well. It is not like he is some 19 year-old frat boy with raging hormones, not much sense and nothing to lose. This is a married, middle aged man with young children.
