The only book I read by him was "Odd John". I started "Star Maker" and "Sirius" but never finished them.

To no surprise, and considerable delight, I came up as Heinlein.
Although, if Farmer "broke science fiction's prudery barrier", I think he could possibly have been a runner-up.

I looked at some of the guy's other writings. He's a flaming lib.

"Anybody so obviously fascinated by gender-switching, homosexuality, incest and other interesting sexual variations doesn't fit my definition." I think, in the same way that some will define "justifiable" homicide, Heinlein delved into societal abnormalities where "justifiable" alternatives to traditional mores seemed excusable.
But if he ventured into actual homosexuality, he must have done it in such a gentle fashion that I hardly noticed.

Oh I've heard of Olaf Stapledon. If you ever get the idea that you're somebody special, his "Last and First Men" will cure you of that. And if that novel doesn't do it, his history of the entire universe, "Star Maker," will.

Which science fiction writer are you?
This is a bit of a surprise. While I've read at least half a dozen of Hal Clement's works, I prefer Poul Anderson and Jack Vance. Anderson because of his future history with Nicholas Van Rijn and Dominic Flandry, and Vance because his human characters act stranger than most of the alien characters of other authors.
