Geology Picture of the Week Bonus: Ice Tower on Mount Erebus
Teachers Experiencing Antarctica and the Arctic ^ | December 2004 | TEA Program

The Washington Post has a special feature called Antarctic Voyages. One of the images is an ice tower on Erebus formed from steam from a fumarole. I hunted around and found a similar picture.

Nature is amazing.

Here's the link to the Post feature; registration probably required if you aren't already. It's got audio; the image that caught my eye is available as a desktop wallpaper under "Downloads". Opening the link below triggers a sound effect (strong winds).

Antarctic Voyages

The actual image is here; I don't know if this will open if you aren't registered.

Believe it or not, WaPo lost my prior registration. Maybe it was after my computer crashed? I don't know. Can IP addresses change when a computer crashes? They were the only MSM that did it to me. I accessed them after that using bugmenot.
