The Washington Post has a special feature called Antarctic Voyages. One of the images is an ice tower on Erebus formed from steam from a fumarole. I hunted around and found a similar picture.
Nature is amazing.
Here's the link to the Post feature; registration probably required if you aren't already. It's got audio; the image that caught my eye is available as a desktop wallpaper under "Downloads". Opening the link below triggers a sound effect (strong winds).

Well I'm not registered, but this is interesting anyway ...Believe it or not, WaPo lost my prior registration. Maybe it was after my computer crashed? I don't know. Can IP addresses change when a computer crashes? They were the only MSM that did it to me. I accessed them after that using bugmenot.
