eCanadanow ^ | April 19, 2007

Posted on 04/19/2007 6:03:29 PM PDT by ConservativeStatement

Los Angeles (eCanadanow) - Entertainment website TMZ.com, has posted (with audio) an alleged voicemail from Alec Baldwin to his 11-year-old daughter Ireland.

allegedly, After Ireland did not answer a morning phone call from Bladwin on April 11, the enraged Golden Globe winner left a nasty message.

Highlights from the tirade include: “Once again, I have made an ass of myself trying to get to a phone.” “You have insulted me for the last time.” “I don’t give a damn that you’re 12-years-old or 11-years-old, or a child, or that your mother is a thoughtless pain in the ass who doesn’t care about what you do.” “This crap you pull on me with this goddamn phone situation that you would never dream of doing to your mother and you do it to me constantly over and over again.”

Before hanging up Baldwin screamed, “I am gonna get on a plane, and come out there for the day, and I’m gonna straighten your ass out when I see you… I’mgonnna really make sure you get it. So, you better be ready Friday the 20th to meet with me so I can let you know how I feel about what a rude little pig you really are.”

As a woman, I CAN CALL OTHER WOMEN OUT when they indulge in silly-illogical-emotional-women crap. Men can't.

*************

Why not?

Still waiting for you to show examples of where I or anyone else said Baldwin was justified in what he did to his daughter, without confusing it with statements speculating on bad behavior on the part of Basinger. (As if anything Basinger could have done would justify what Baldwin did ... )

*crickets*

Very much for the same reason that only guys like Bill Cosby can critize fellow blacks. Because men will get creamed, called chauvinist pigs, female-phobic and all kinds of ugly things when they dare to publicly critize womanly failings. Oddly, women don't receive the same condemnation when they criticize and belittle men.

Couldn't you figure that out for yourself, or do you just like catfights?

You’re a woman, aren’t you? So am I, and women — or anyone for that matter — who live life enabling and then denying such a severe lapse in logic as you demonstrate here, make the world WORSE in so many ways. It’s why our founders didn’t give women the vote. To wit: I and Blue Turtle point out that Baldwin was likely not the ONLY adult who behaved badly here, and you immediately insist that we’re attempting to justify what Baldwin did. You fail to see, or refuse to see because it makes you too uncomfortable, that obviously no one is attempting to justify Baldwin’s behavior. But it is not obvious to you either because you’re too proud or scared to acknowledge that the mother may ALSO bear responsibility, or because you really can’t help it because somehow, some way, you got short-changed in the logic department. Again, I smell personal projection here on your part — maybe you’re close to a woman who has condoned her own kids treating their ex-dad with disrespect in a way that they would NEVER EVER EVER tolerate in the kids with regard to themselves.

Wrong again. The thing in my pants would seem to indicate that I am indeed a male. How you interjected the founder’s denying women the right to vote in any way, shape, or form is beyond me and would indicate a lapse on YOUR part when it comes to logical thinking. If you wish to get personal and make attacks, by all means, do your best. I will assure you that you will not be pleased with the results, as verbally dispatching of cowards who like to hurl insults and play Jr. Psychiatrist from the safety of a keyboard is a hobby of mine (when I have a little free time). However, I would rather you treat me in a respectful manner, and I will do the same in return, deal? Here is the issue at hand: Alec Baldwin, known to be violent and abusive, left a hateful message that borders on abuse to his 12 year old daughter. Kim Baldinger, who may be Satan incarnate for all I know, released the tape to the public, in what I consider to be a brilliant way to expose this asshole in a way that no spin-meister will ever be able to reason away, without the help of enablers in the media.

I’m pretty sure you meant this response for someone else.

My only comment: try to stop that “thing in your pants” from doing all your thinking.

First of all, I DO appreciate the fact that you are standing up for men, because you are right-when a man start criticizing a woman, often he is labeled. What I have a problem with is any deflection, large or small of the issue at hand which results in a de-facto defense of a man who is a KNOWN abuser. Fact, this man called his 12 year old daughter a PIG, and that is what we have, not a crystal ball to tell us what may be going on behind the scenes. I love my son more than the next breath I will take, and under NO circumstances would I ever call him a pig. I’d spank his ass until he couldn’t sit, but I would never call him a pig. I think Kim Balderdash did exactly the right thing by exposing this guy for what he is, but as to wheter her intentions are nefarious or noble, no one knows.

Sounds like justifiable Momicide on Kim’s part.

Smart Alec should be dropped off in Alaskan grizzly country
so he can pick on somebody his own size.
Sounds like he’s gone over the Edge.

Let me put a stop to my part in this. Apologies to all with whom I’ve been rude, but since the birth of my son, I am passionate about children and this is coming off like I’m supporting Kim Badfinger, which I’m not. I’m sure they are both idiots, but calling your kid a PIG? Nope, sorry. I will save my venoms for Libs and DU’ers from now on...

I don’t know. It’s difficult to believe that a father could say that to his daughter unless he was way under the influence.

Liberals are always under the influence — of being self-righteous jerks who claim to care about people, while at the same time treating individuals, especially people such store clerks and waiters, with disdain. Admittedly, they are usually not this horrible to their own children.

Men and women are most decidedly different, with different weaknesses. But I don’t see how either gender’s biologically inherent faults would render them incapable of helping to decide the future of the country they live in by voting. I assume then, that you do not vote, since you think it unwise for women to do so? It must be awful for you, since the 19th amendment is unlikely to be repealed, to see all these emotional, illogical women running around voting every couple of years. My sympathies.

Kids can do some pretty crazy things and *sometimes* parents can be pushed to the edge such that a bystander not aware of the entire situation would think the parents were nuts.

^^^
Indeed, they can. And my 4 drove me batty sometimes, but I never swore at them and I certainly would never have called them “rude little pigs”. (Not out loud anyway.)

You and I are of one mind with regard to how contemptible Alec Baldwin is.

Pointing out that Baldwin is likely not the ONLY parent behaving badly in this fiasco is not the equivalent of justifying Baldwin's horrifically immature response.

From much personal experience, I expect what happened is the same thing I have seen happen in the lives of many children directly related to me: mom leaves dad, takes the kids, and allows the kids to blow dad off anytime they like, where if those kids even thought about blowing mom off the same way, there'd be hell to pay.

Baldwin was a complete bad apple, 100 percent. But that does NOT mean that Basinger did not play a significant part in cultivating this ugly incident between Baldwin and his daughter. I suspect (I may be wrong, but personal experience leads me to think otherwise) that Basinger never attempted to instill in her daughter the idea that she should respect her dad's attempts to maintain contact with her, that if her dad said "I'm going to call you tonight at such-and-such time" and kid blows him off, then she shoudln't be surprised that her dad would be upset, and it seems fairly clear that this kid had been blowing him off repeatedly. It's mom's responsibility to discourage such behavior.

Basinger, like many primary-custodian single moms I've known personally, may have done the opposite. Not that anyone could blame her for wanting to keep her daughter away from a man who beats women, but this was NOT a smart way to do it and it was certainly not in the best interests of the child.

It was, however, in the best interests of Basinger.

If this was the case, then I think Baldwin was ABSOLUTELY NORMAL in getting upset. What was reprehensible, disgusting, and ABSOLUTELY INEXCUSABLE was Baldwin's way of dealing with it. He behaved like a spoiled, bad, sissy boy-child himself. He is beneath contempt not because he was upset, but because of the way he dealt with being upset.

My guess is that Basinger probably bad-mouths Baldwin in front of the kid as much as Baldwin obviously bad-mouths Basinger to the kid. So the kid thinks it's right and good to treat him with disrepect. If I'm correct in how I think it went down, then this could have been avoided if Basinger had encouraged her daughter to embrace her dad's efforts to maintain a relationship, rather than to blow them off. But that takes a big person, a mature person, and if Basinger is anything like the man she married, it was hopeless from the start.

No matter how one approaches it, Baldwin has been an industrial-strength asshole, but that should come as no surprise to anyone. That being true does not preclude Basinger from being a Jerkmeister as well.

I don't know Ann Coulter. I read and liked "Godless" and "Treason".

I think you presume a bit much.

I have one rule when it comes to things like this. Once a man hits a woman, he is wrong, period. Nothing can be justified, nothing can be explained, and any woman IMHO is justified in taking any action necessary against that man under the guise of safety.

If Baldwin manhandled Basinger, no matter what she may have done to anger him, she got the high moral ground in my book.

Baldwin should just pay and go away. The child will never respect him, and calling her a pig didn't help his cause. Basinger has won, and if Baldwin has any sense, he will just write the check and move on.

Agreed that Baldwin is a Chump Supremo. A human male who beats up on a woman is no man.

Not agreed that Basinger gets the moral highground by default. Had she dumped him like a hot rock -- had the first time he hit her been the last time he hit her -- I'd concede to her that more elevated ground. And if indeed that's what she did, she's deserving of respect and I'll admit my mistake. But if he smacked her around more than once and she stuck around and brought/kept a child in the mix, then she's on no higher moral ground than Baldwin.

From the Guardian, May 17, 2003:

Why does she think the franchise is too big already? Who exactly has the vote who shouldn't have? "Women," she [Ann Coulter] says, laughing. "It's true. It would be a much better country if women did not vote. That is simply a fact. In fact, in every presidential election since 1950 - except Goldwater in '64 - the Republican would have won, if only the men had voted."

You asked me earlier: I assume then, that you do not vote, since you think it unwise for women to do so?

It's my duty to cast informed votes; if I'm not informed on a candidate or issue, I will refrain from casting a vote. But I, like my mother and a few other women conservatives I know, would sacrifice MY right to vote if that's what it took to prevent American elections from being dominated by women who happily indulge, ala Oprah, in misinformed emotionalism over substance and reason in the polling booth. Bill Clinton happened because of female voters.
