For the second week in a row, I will be your host for the Official FR Singles Thread. I'm also doing this from work, which is how I multitask.
Last week, as you remember, I asked the ping list at large about a girl I tried to ask out and was, well, unsuccessful. So recently I checked my email and whenever I do I'm bombarded with links to very vacuous articles like "Green Rednecks, Unite!" and quotes from celebrities (in this particular case Sienna Miller) like "I want to get away from playing wimps and do some kick-ass action". Don't we all?
Anyway, MSN had a perfect, yet really silly, article entitled "New Ways To Ask Someone Out". The premise of this article is to encourage in a creative fashion those of us who are practically scared to death to approach a girl (or guy even) out on a date. Here's one example given in the article:
Ask your intended out on paper or a paper napkin
Okay, this really isn't "new" per se. Creative...yeah, I guess, but not new. The explanation itself even references this "what's old is new again" line of thinking by saying "Remember those grade school 'Do you like me?' notes you used to pass around?" Yes, I actually do, but this couldn't possibly work for anyone under the age of 12.
Or could it? The ladies of this thread are no doubt familiar with the cheesy pick up lines such as "are you from Tennessee? Because you're the only 10 I see!" (My apologies in advance to anyone from the Volunteer State)I have a theory about this. This had to have worked at least once otherwise it wouldn't have been concocted. Yet, the fact it worked once and everyone else kept using it may mean it lost it's effectiveness somehow--and with such with as that line, who would have guessed it would have gone stale?
I've rambled on long enough. G'head and tell me your great, not so great, Hindenburg style disasters of how you've asked the other sex out or how you've been asked out.
“My favorite pickup line... I bought 10,000 shares of Google @ $100 each on the IPO.”
Woo!! You really know how to smooth talk a gal dontcha??
You’d do better to sing a song to her....giggle. I’ve heard that makes a real good impression.
Is Worchester 500 miles from Boston?? Cause there’s a REAL good looking single FReeper guy in Boston.
Yes it is. So are Tela Mar, Omoa and Trujillo.......
My Bro-in-law has property in Trujillo which he says I can build a house on if I wish but there will be no substantial infrastructure development there on the bay for 10 years. That being the case, I am setting my sights on Tela, Ceiba or Omoa, in that order because I want to make the move by October 2010.......
It’s probably a matter of opinion. I’m thinking Worcester is not far enough away from Boston.
I only have two lines.
“Please, please, please go out with me. Please, I beg you! I’m so desperate; I can’t bear the lonliness any more. Oh please!”
That *will* work. Some day.
My next least effective pick up is “How much?”
One that worked on me was: How do you post in color??
:D
Please, please, please go out with me. Please, I beg you! Im so desperate; I cant bear the lonliness any more. Oh please!
Swoon!
hahahahaha
That's a very calculated risk you took there, searching for pick-up lines on the Internet. :)
I'm right, woo hoo! :)
I use them now.
;-)
Or post a link to that song from youtube? I'm watching the original Star Wars movie on DVD right now, how sexy is that!
Everything boils down to sex otherwise we wouldn’t care at all. Now don’t take that the wrong way because there is way more to a relationship than just sex. I would not want a relationship based on just sex. Lets face it though when people are going to a bar (especially) to look for someone of the opposite sex then SEX is on their mind.
I wish them well and I hope they find happiness. I think its a lot more complicated for myself but then what do I know?
Depends on if you're cute ...and always put the toilet seat down. *chuckle*
Yes but which marriage?
