A lot of people are already preparing to adorn their cars with bumpers stickers that say "01-20-2013 Obama's last day". Let's look at history over the past 88 years to see the likelihood.
1921-1933 Republicans ran the White House ( Harding, Coolidge, Hoover - 12 years)
1933-1953 Democrats ran the White House (Roosevelt and Truman - 20 years)
1953-1961 Republicans ran the White House (Eisenhower - 8 years)
1961-1969 Democrats ran the White House ( Kennedy and Johnson - 8 Years)
1969-1977 Republicans ran the White House (Nixon and Ford - 8 years)
1977-1981 Democrats ran the White House (Carter 4 years)
1981-1993 Republicans ran the White House (Reagan and Bush -12 years)
1993-2001 Democrats ran the White House (Clinton 8 years)
2001-2009 Republicans ran the White House (Bush - 8 years)
As you can see, over the past 88 years, there was only one 4-year run by either the Democrats or Republicans, Carter 1977-2001.
If you look at years with truly open presidential races, 1920 and 1952, these terms were followed by terms of 8 years.
Even In 1976, 1980, 1992, and 2000, despite the problems in the country the incumbant party came within a weekend in winning the White House for a "second, third, or fourth" term. Single term is the exception, not the rule.
It's time for the GOP to get busy.
Obama’s desire is to turn the Presidency into a permanent dictatorship with liberal control in the House, Senate, and Supreme Court. He will rise to power with the backing of the obamabots. Eventually, he will be deposed like like Adolf Hitler, or Saddam Hussein! I just hope that we can get him with a smooth transition of power before it takes a violent overthrow. The Constitution affirms the right of the people to use force to remove an oppressive government.
I'm convinced he will be re-elected. After all, he'll need a 7 year period to complete his mission. SO, be prayerfullywaiting!
Don't feel bad, so did we all! "The wisdom of the voters", as the WSJ during Bob Bartlett's reign used to call it. HA!
I don't remember running across that in the Constitution--maybe you are thinking of the Declaration of Independence ("That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its Foundation on such Principles, and organizing its Powers in such Form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness").
Yes, many folks here believe him to be a foreign usurper. Quite frankly, until I see a real live vault copy of his birth certificate, I do, too.
I don’t think so.. From what I have understood he came to Dallas to unite the Rats..
Lets see that’s 15 different presidents over 88 years which works out to average out to be about 5.8 years each one. So now what does that tell us? Absolutely nothing I would say. I thought liberalism didn’t work. Has that changed?
And they were all white, experienced, vetted, didn’t pal around with terrorists, native-born, patriotic, and had actual accomplishments. Obama broke all those trends, surely he can break the two-term trend. It’s worth looking into specific reasons why incumbents win, and finding a way around that in 2012. Too early to tell about Obama. If he goes the Clinton centrist route, then he’s 80% likely to be two-term. If he actually pushes his agenda, then he’s Jimmy Carter with voter fraud to help him out.
I concur with you and acknowledge my posting should state the Declaration of Independence and not the Constitution affirms the right.
42 Presidents in 220 years (I’m counting the 22nd and 24th Presidents as one person) works out to just under 5 years and 3 months each (5.24 years).
Well, he somehow got as far as he did, so I would have to assume that he has some powerful people behind him.
Still, the economy is going to get worse before it gets better, and the economy could very well get much worse. I fear that America may lose a lot of ground in the next four years - massive government socialism and our enemies around the world getting a lot stronger unchallenged by the U.S.
We'll have to wait and see what happens. (And right now I believe that anything can happen at any moment...).
I think the breakdown in the Senate in 2010 will be 19 Republican seats up for re-election and only 15 Democrats--including a bunch that will be hard to take away (CA, CT, HI, IL, MD, NY, OR, VT, WA, WI). It will be an uphill task to reduce the Democrats' majority, let alone recapture the Senate.
” How much you wanna bet there will be an initiative to put his face on Mount Rushmore?”
I was thinking exactly the same thing just a couple of days ago .
Yes, he’ll be in office only 1 term. However, that term will last decades.
