Will Obama be a one term President? - History says probably not

A lot of people are already preparing to adorn their cars with bumpers stickers that say "01-20-2013 Obama's last day". Let's look at history over the past 88 years to see the likelihood.

1921-1933 Republicans ran the White House ( Harding, Coolidge, Hoover - 12 years)

1933-1953 Democrats ran the White House (Roosevelt and Truman - 20 years)

1953-1961 Republicans ran the White House (Eisenhower - 8 years)

1961-1969 Democrats ran the White House ( Kennedy and Johnson - 8 Years)

1969-1977 Republicans ran the White House (Nixon and Ford - 8 years)

1977-1981 Democrats ran the White House (Carter – 4 years)

1981-1993 Republicans ran the White House (Reagan and Bush -12 years)

1993-2001 Democrats ran the White House (Clinton – 8 years)

2001-2009 Republicans ran the White House (Bush - 8 years)

As you can see, over the past 88 years, there was only one 4-year run by either the Democrats or Republicans, Carter 1977-2001.

If you look at years with truly open presidential races, 1920 and 1952, these terms were followed by terms of 8 years.

Even In 1976, 1980, 1992, and 2000, despite the problems in the country the incumbant party came within a weekend in winning the White House for a "second, third, or fourth" term. Single term is the exception, not the rule.

It's time for the GOP to get busy.

He's never felt the sting of anything.

He's been completely cocooned, spoon-fed, insulated and placenta'ed since he was chosen 30 years ago.

He is the least self-made man in the history of American politics.

And he has the slimmest paper trail ever to prove it.

History don’t vote.

If there is a girl named 'Latrina' (see below), I am sure there is somewhere a girl named 'History', who votes!

Obama will overdo his communism along with the Dims in Congress - they just can’t resist it. As a consequence, the economy will tank and stay tanked; the world bad guys will run amok. Only 4 yrs for Obama.

Unless Obama and his minions actually act on their deepest dreams and try to impose authoritarian rule. All bets are off.

>>>You know something we don’t?

I know he wont stand up under real scrutiny.
He is where he is now because he has yet to face it.
It’s only a matter of time.
He will take his party down with him.

Here's a historical what if: would JFK been able to have beaten Goldwater in '64 had JFK not been assasinated or did enough of the electorate buy into the Camelot hype by then?

“How much you wanna bet there will be an initiative to put his face on Mount Rushmore?”

The kids can do it as their Obama service project.

It would have been nice to have had a really great guy be the first black president. It’s so sad, especially because you just know this isn’t going to work.

Exactly! He is Carter part two — only worse. I am not willing to concede that he will serve two terms. We can start by working on 2010 now!

Obama will be lucky to last the first year without being impeached, tried, convicted and sent to Federal prison for fixing the election.
Obama’s political machine is perhaps the most corrupt in history. It’s like watching Butcher Bill in “Gangs of New York”.

Between that Marxist maggot getting elected and my dog dying, it will ALWAYS be a day of great mourning, for me.

Had not been assassinated he would have been impeached or died in office from a natural ailment.

I guess I had too much faith in the american people.

In 2004, I took a weighted average of the RCP polls and got 49-47. I Zogby sauced my prediction because I thought Bush was underpolling. Had I evenly allocated my Undecideds I would have gotten 51-49. I also thought Bush would win Pennsylvania and Minnesota in 2004.

2006, I blew it

2008, I thought +7 dem oversampling was unrealistic since historically the most was +4%. I thought the GOP would be fired up to vote against Obama, boy was I wrong.

My NFL predictions this year was horrible.

I don’t think there will be a second term for Obama. IF it is true there are ghosts walking the halls in the White House, I don’t think these ghosts will be happy with their new occupants. It could make for sleepless nights. If we see garlic hanging around the door posts we can think something is going on.

I think Kennedy would have beaten Goldwater in 1964, although probably not by as big a margin as LBJ did (partly the result of the assassination and how the nation reacted to it)...probably some of the normally Republican states that voted for LBJ would have voted for Goldwater, but Kennedy would have still done better than in 1960.

I hope nothing untoward happens to Obama--Biden would hardly be an improvement, and if Obama were the victim of violence that could do a lot of harm to the country, more than the Kennedy assassinations or the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., assassination. The assassin would be some idiot like Timothy McVeigh or the people who shot Reagan and tried to shoot Ford, but a lot of black people would assume a wider conspiracy.

Anything that goes wrong in the next four years will be blamed on Bush or on white racists--the country would have to be in worse shape than it was in 1980 for anyone to be able to beat Obama. Let's just hope there is a real election in 2016, that Obama hasn't become our Hugo Chavez by then.
