We all need to do that.Having children older in life means you end up being the old person of the family as Grandparents and most parents are gone.Writing on the pictures will mean so much to someone 50 or 60 years from now.
Looks like most of the women are school teachers
Ed, it’s a Delaware plate from 1940, expires 3-31-41. In 1940, the DE plate was yellow with dark blue numbers.
The people in the wedding picture look Eastern European, maybe Russian or Polish?
Very interesting. The photo in post 39 of the DC-3 landing—my first thought was of the New Castle Airport, which has a highway right next to it(Hwy 13). Don’t know if that is what it looked like back then,
I think we are getting warm. The 1940 census isn’t availble unitl 2010/2011, right?(70 years).
The kid on the left side sure is floodin'!
The message is almost surely referring to Skyline Drive in Virginia, considering the pictures of cherry blossoms in DC. It is unusual for a snowfall in Virginia in October, but wouldn't be unheard of--especially before Global Warming....lol.
Sad thing is...everyone in these pics is likely dead..at least all the adults.
The guy in the back, third from the right, played a British officer in several Hogan’s Heroes episodes.
If you ever want to donate that old sheet music, I know where it would REALLY be appreciated.
Give it to The Bagaduce Music Lending Library, 3 Music Library Lane, Blue Hill, ME 04614, (207) 374-5454, www.bagaducemusic.org
They currently have over 159,999 titles covering keyboard, solo and small ensemble instrumental, pop and classical, vocal, secular and sacred choral, opera and musical theater scores, and other categories of all eras.
Copied with permission from my book (shameless plug) “How to Dispose of Your Stuff, Heavenly Uses for Earthly Goods”.
Yes.
Naaaaaaa........that’s just what they LOOKED like then. AND, they’re probably mostly, in their fifties and sixties...
I bought these picture frames at Walmart and they have these unknown people in them too. =)
I had the same thing happen to me. I purchased a storage bin in an auction and found a very old photo album. It’s been 15 years and I still can’t bring myself to throw it away. Very valuable memories to someone out there.
thanks ... it looked like Del to me, but my magnification suffers ... I wonder how easy/hard that info would be to find in DE ... its population of registered vehicles back then was probably not terribly dense.
No, but the pix can be blown up on the screen. I hope you didn’t go all squinty eyed trying.
yeah, it’s Dr. Bombay :))
His name is Bernard Fox. Here's his bio: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernard_Fox_(actor)
Yep, Colonel Crittendon. Think he was also in a MASH episode as well.
I wonder if it’s a Skyline Drive in CA - which would make it unusual if it snowed. I think I remember it being near the Bay Area somewhere .. but I don’t remember any views of water .. too many years ago .. can’t remember.
There is a small sign under the plate close to the bottom bumper. You might blow it up and it could tell you where the car was sold. (maybe)
