Good evening!
In another major address this week, President Obama will outline further economic plans: to cut the federal deficit in half over the course of his first term, to raise taxes on "the wealthiest" Americans, winding down the war in Iraq, and it's reported, raising business taxes.
The Republicans in Congress will have their work cut out for them to oppose tax increases in a time of business downturn, but it needs to be done, and they need our help to oppose the increases.
Continue to make calls, emails, talk to everyday folks you know.

Note: This thread is updated on a regular basis.
Sweet dreams everyone...
The big issue this week is the Fiscal Year 2009 Omnibus Spending bill. The Dems in Congress and in the Senate will try to ram this through as an "emergency" without even letting anyone read it.
The "continuing resolution" that was passed last year only funds the federal government through March 6, 2009. They have to pass an "Omnibus Spending Bill" before that (or pass all of the appropriations bills that they failed to complete last year).
Since nobody will be allowed to read this, expect them to try to include the "Fairness Doctrine," and possibly "card check" and some of their other lefty priorities in this "emergency measure" and get them passed with no debate.
If Republicans were smart, they would submit an "Omnibus Spending Bill" that continues everything at FY 2008 levels for the entire FY 2009, and say they want to "move forward" to Obama's FY 2010 budget.
Under no circumstances should the Republicans vote on the "Omnibus Spending Bill" without reading it first. And they should insist that it is published on the web at least 48 to 72 hours before any vote.
Thanks for the new thread, Molly!
Gosh, I get here just when everyone else is going nighty-night :-)
Rainy day today and rain in the forecast for the next few days so won't be working out in the yard quite yet. Probably a good thing for me since I am not quite back to 100%.
The plane reservations are made once again. Remember I had to cancel the trip in December because I couldn't get to the airport from here due to snow and ice. David will be going with me so I shouldn't have a "white knuckle" flight since I'll have someone to talk to and hold my hand on take off and landing :-) We leave here May 13th for Vegas, then San Diego, then the Bay area. We will return to Portland on June 9th. Andy (dog) will stay with Kandace and Randy - he LOVES staying with them. Anne will take care of Charlie (cat) so it looks like everything is covered....just knowing we won't have to worry about snow is also a big plus. David will be meeting 11 of my children/grandchildren and great grandchildren during this trip. I have made him a list of names so he can try to keep them straight :-)
I am still trying to finish reading THE SHACK - struggling with the concept but I will finish it!!!
Shelly is in Las Vegas tonight to be with her friend Kelly during a very sad time. Kelly's sister, Kimmie, had a stroke Thursday and today, they removed the ventilator. She had zero brain waves. So very sad....she left a loving husband and a 16 year old son. Kimmie was only 52. Please keep the family in your prayers.
Life is so very short so please take time to tell those near and dear to you, just how much they mean to you. I read a neat email the other day that closed by saying.....Work like you don't need the money, dance like no one is looking, and love like you've never been hurt.
And, that is a nice way to end this email :-) Write when you can...we LOVE email.....Love and hugs, ABCD >
There was no new work waiting for me, so I worked on the existing stuff. I have way more work than I know what to do with right now. I have one guy that helps me out when I get overloaded and he has been busy, but he thought he could help out starting this week.
In singles class at church a newcomer lady introdiced herself and announced "...and I'm a Republican!" Obviously, I talked to her after class.
What's fer dinner?
Green peas
Buttered noodles and
Sauteed Chicken Breast
It is very plain.
Now that new Republican chick sounds interesting. Did you talk to her after class at a restaurant? Tell us more.
I talked to her immediately after class. She was with another chick. The class was going to lunch afterwards and they were going. I occasionally go, but I just had too much to do at home. I want to see if she returns. We are in a study on Joseph. In Genesis 39
I had a great post to you, but alas it was eaten by the post monster. It was too long to repeat.
Would love to have read it. If you can regurgitate it, please try.
Tell me about the study on Joseph. What were his outstanding characteristics? How would you have responded to him if you were his brother Reuben?
Thanks for bringing that thread over here. There are times when we’re unemployed and that should be a big help to us.
Good on ya’!
Ok. Will probably have to wait until tomorrow morning my time. Going to tackle that redesign. Time to roll. Maybe lurk mode for the day, if that. Good night.
OK, I’m looking forward to hearing about it. Good luck on that redesign today. I hope things go smoothly and no annoying liberals get in your way. I’m heading off to bed soon, prolly within an hour.
Good morning, lysie. I see you’re Johnny-on-the-spot with brekky today.
I’m glad it’s useful.
You’re welcome Jemian.
Good morning.
