” That’s a great test.

I often listen to the AI contestants with my eyes closed, so I can focus on their vocal qualities.”

Good, after all it’s about their singing ability in the end.

I disagree. AI is not a singing competition, it is a marketing competition.

Yes, the singing is a part -- the most important part -- but so is image and personality. Without the total package, you don't have a "star", and "stardom" sells records and concert tickets, not simply good voices.

That said, I also do the "closed eyes" method as part of my evaluation of each contestant.

I agree. If Sandra Bernhardt could sing like Carrie Underwood, I doubt that Bernhardt would be the singing star that Carrie is. It's about the total package and not just about the singing voice. Over the top and in your face gay, may not be the best 'AI' package. jmo

Here is some Idol news. It looks like even Britney is being stalked by AI losers LOL.

April 16, 2009, 8:07 PM EST
CALABASAS, California (AP) — Authorities have arrested a camouflage-wearing, camera-toting woman they say was caught peeking into Britney Spears’ windows.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department arrested Miranda Tozier-Robbins on Thursday morning after security guards stopped her at Spears’ suburban Calabasas home. Deputies say the 26-year-old was issued a citation for trespassing and disorderly conduct and released.

The incident happened hours before Spears was scheduled to perform the first of two shows this week in Los Angeles. The 27-year-old singer’s whereabouts at the time of the incident are unknown. The sheriff’s department said it did not know, and an e-mail sent to Spears’ publicist was not immediately returned.

Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said it was unclear what the woman was up to. Jail records did not indicate whether she has an attorney.

In 2005, Tozier-Robbins auditioned for the fifth season of “American Idol” by performing Spears’ hit, “Everytime,” according to reports from Entertainment Weekly.

Spears recently moved from her hilltop home in Los Angeles. Her former home was prone to spying by the paparazzi, who occasionally staked out a fire access road to try to get shots of the 27-year-old.

Not sure about Quentin’s advice on this one to “rough it up”. Anoop sings this pretty good. 3 1/2 Slurpees out of 5 from me.

LOL! Again, this is why I wade through 1000 post for these absolutely hilarious comments!

Bryan Adams is one of my favorite artist and I don't necessarily like Anoop, but he did a fantastic version of this song! It was truly great. I'm glad Anoop didn't take a movie directors advice to "rough it up" and stayed true to his style. Amazingly it worked very well for him.

Yep, that's for real! She put on a pretty good show. It was only a little over an hour long (but it was a free show with time constraints so I didn't expect it to be much longer than that) and while the crowd wasn't huge to my eyes, apparently it was bigger than she expected. She sang a few covers-a Janis Joplin number and one of the Beatles' songs she performed on AI last year...but most of the songs she did were ones she'd written herself. She produced her own CD and every song on it was written by her. One of them I really liked-it had a Bob Seger feel to it. All in all I was glad I went.

I decided to get her CD and noticed in the liner notes the first people she thanks are Megan and Patrick who work for AI. She said that while the program wasn't her cup of tea, without it, the CD wouldn't exist. I thought that was nice that she recognized them. She also thanks God at the end and acknowledges she is a work in progress and thanks Him for not giving up on her. She seems so tough, that was a side of her I wasn't expecting!

My favorite Season 7 contestant was Michal Johns, the awesome aussie. He just released his first single, Heart on My Sleeve. It’s available on Itunes and Amazon. Album dropping I thing June 23. I love the song, it showcases his voice nicely without overproduction.

I agree. She was NOT getting it. Just because you like a song doesn't mean it is a good song for you to sing. Her problem though is she was arguing that she 'changed' it up, (artistry). Again, if the song is a bad fit, changing it up by starting normal, going gospel, then going back to normal, doesn't mean it fit any better. I hated what she did to that song.

Exactly, it sucked precisely because Lil did it!

I hear so many contestants say "I love that song" which usually means kiss of death because usually you have to pick SONGS which fit within your style for them to work. I really thought Anoop would have bombed with "Everything I do," but he worked it out great and I don't even like his style and love B. Adams rough rock style. The song fit Anoop because it has an element suited to his style.

Adam Lambert is he next Axl Rose, you guys don’t have a clue, he has more talent than the rest of the cast.

Oh please! Adam is a good singer, but there are thousands of good singers just like him who never make it because they can't write good songs, or they don't record the right songs.

Adam couldn't touch Axl Rose as a singer, or song writer!

My father made my mother throw out a package of Mary Jane candies because he thought they had drugs in them.

What?! LOL! ...And my father made us turn off the TV when Puff The Magic Dragon was playing one time because he thought the sublimity would get us kids hooked!
