An elementary school in Indiana reportedly removed a mention of Allah in its holiday show after protests from a national conservative Christian group.

Lantern Road Elementary Principal Danielle Thompson told IndyStar.com that school officials in Fishers, Ind., attempted to teach inclusiveness through the second-grade program that included portions on Christmas, Hanukkah, Ramadan, Las Posadas and Kwanzaa.

"It went off last night without a hitch," Thompson told the Web site. "Several families thought it was a nice program."

"It's unfortunate if that was removed from the program just because of Islamophobic feelings," Siddiqui told the Web site. "Schools are a place where we should learn more about each other rather than exclude each other based on stereotypes and misconceptions."

As I noted elsewhere. School board. Next election. Clean house.

I am certainly in favor of kids learning the true brutal details of Islam and Mohammed.

Siddiqui said "Allah" is the Arabic word for God and is used by Jews, Christians and others in Arabic-speaking nations.

Jews and Christians refer to God as Allah?

How stupid do they think people are?

Is it a bad or good strategy to show students what the major world religious beliefs (those with the most followers) are? It would be beyond the pale to expect a whole student body to participate in a “praise Allah,” but if letting Islamic students do that in front of a student assembly is the price of also letting Christian students share about the birth and meaning of Jesus Christ, would that be wrong?

“Siddiqui said “Allah” is the Arabic word for God and is used by Jews, Christians and others in Arabic-speaking nations.”

Fine, this just doesn’t happen to be an Arabic speaking nation. Around these parts, God is God, and the ACLU won’t let us speak his name in schools. What makes you so special?

Kwanzaa too? Where’s festivus? There are more Seinfeld fans in this country than there are Muslims or people who who celebrate Kwanzaa, a holiday invented in the 60’s by some guy probably in order to make money off it.

They are liars too. Illah means God in Arab. Allah is a NAME.

Christmas and Hanukkah, OK. But Ramadan has nothing at all to do with the season, and “Kwanzaa” is just a BS “holiday” made up by a convicted criminal.

Except they won’t teach them that. Nor will they tell them the truths about diseases and homosexual males. Nor will they teach them that gays are much more likely to be physically and sexually abused by their partners.

The “Christmas” part of the program...

From the FoxNews article...

But when it came time to perform the “Christian” part of Christmas, children were assigned to say:

“I didn’t know there was a little boy at the manger. What child is this?
I’m not sure if there was a little boy or not.
Then why did you paint one on your nativity window?
I just thought if there was a little boy, I’d like to know exactly what he (sic) say.

It might be helpful for you to read the article. The Christian children were not allowed to mention God or Jesus, but they were required to chant “Allah is God.” So what are you talking about?

My fundie evangelical church has long sponsored a Christian missionary to New York City area Muslims. The term “Allah” is indeed used in Arabic and Farsi Christian bibles to refer to the Judeo-Christian supreme deity.

Well as I pointed out that would be beyond the pale. Let me also point out that the complaints of the Islamists made above are misleading. If refusing to let the whole student body participate in an “Allah is God” is special hatred to Islam, then welcome our Moose pals to the boat that American Christians have been in since the Sixties.

Well, as I read it, GOD in the Christian or Jewish context was never mentioned, and the lines about the presence of the unnamed baby boy in the manger were skeptical rather than affirmative. Most Christians and Jews would deny that their shared God is the equivalent of Allah.

No, true: the Judeo-Christian concept of God is very dissimilar to the Islamic concept of God. The Islamic deity is portrayed as distancing himself much more from mankind and being unknowable.

I propose a balance point that is not the same as what this school tried to do. Christians should be free to speak of the exclusive nature of Jesus as Islamists are to quibble that Christian bibles use the same word to refer to a different concept of deity.

The term “Allah” is indeed used in Arabic and Farsi Christian bibles to refer to the Judeo-Christian supreme deity.

We should also note, however, that the title Allah (al-ilah, the god), in the Islamic context, is referring to the Arabian conception of deity, developed in contradiction to the Judeo-Christian God, via the monotheising of an ancient Arabian moon and fertility god, likely Hubal, but possibly Dushara.

Sans context, “Allah is God” is ambiguous. Asking a student body to repeat that sans context is intellectual dishonesty. Christian students should be as free to say “Allah is not God.”
