Just popping in to see if I'm the only one that thinks the guys are just not up to snuff? Last night was the first time I've seen them sing since the Olympics and I wasn't impressed with any of the guys.
It doesn't sound like the girls are doing much better? It's hard to join the thread as I don't get to see it for another 2 hours. :(
I do enjoy all your comments, though!
Simon gave her some great advice there and it doesn’t even seem like it registered with her.
Ellen wanted to get in her pants. That is what all the “are you 17 questions are about”.
simon totally lost her
Her song is "Put Your Records On" by Corinne Bailey Rae
She has a good voice. It sounds older than she really is.
Randy: Bright moments in there. Reminded me of the girl that we saw in the auditions. Try to believe a little more that you can tackle some bigger songs.
Ellen: Really great voice. I want to see you younger somehow. I don't want to hear somthing that I would hear in my dentist office.
Kara: So frustrated with you, Katie. I see so much in you. You were almost in the wrong key. Certain songs are great on the radio, but when you perform them they don't have enough impact.
Simon: Very frustrating. You actually did take our notes. You'll stay around for another week. But that wasn't a winning performance.
I have a hard time envisioning her as a recording artist....but then again I thought the same thing of Kelly Clarkson.
So how old is she?
Come back soon.
Being in the hospital agrees with Crystal, LOL. She looked warmer somehow. Friendlier.
I don’t know exactly. I think I heard a rumor only 17. ;-)
Hi, Cudjo :)
Wonder where he got that? ;)
Let’s face it — Ellen was a huge mistake. It makes Kara seem to not be that bad a mistake.
When Simon leaves next year, we will be left with Randy, “yo dog” and blithering idiots (we can debate whether Randy belongs there as well...).
And, everyone on this thread gave her every break. We laughed at her good material in Hollywood and tried to appreciate her perspective.
Bottom Line: First and foremost Ellen doesn’t know squat about music. Second: she isn’t that funny because she is an element she doesn’t understand. Third: She has become boring since she has been ordered to tone it down (as opposed to being just stupid — tough call).
Kara was Paula Light and will always be in her shadow.
OK — back to the chicks.
“I dunno. It’s just like I dunno, like I could talk forever.” That’s almost a quote
>>Just popping in to see if I’m the only one that thinks the guys are just not up to snuff? <<
If you add it all together, I think I speak for the group when I say — the guys STUNK!
If Simon bring X Factor to America bye bye Idol.
What was with the Meow Mix thing?
“Lean on Me” Bad out of the gate.
All this chit-chat by the contestants has to stop. Enough with your (and Ellen’s) cheerleading fantasy.
Have they just found all the talent out there and used it all up? I was so bored watching the guys.
definitely Herbie (??) the dentist, but the ascot is giving me the Richie Rich vibe tonight. LOL.
I’m not liking this girl...painful
Go lean on a tree and hope a bird doesn’t not poop on your head. What is with these song choices tonight?>

It doesn’t help their cause, I tell you that.
I see she didn’t learn the meaning of self-indulgent.
Randy nails it 100% in his analysis!
I like her voice, but her song choice was bad (again) and they are right, there is something about her that doesn’t connect with her and the audience. Something off-putting.
The girls are tying to give the guys a break tonight.
The mewling had my cats running. LOL.
I like your style of critiquing tonight.
His name is actually Hermey. I had no idea all these years until I googled him! I thought it was Herbie too!
You’re saying you would rather see me has a judge then Ellen?
Someone shouts "Boo!"
Kara interjects "Meow."
is she crying?
that song is bad...that’s such an old song
Too funny because I first thought Hermey or Hermie (I didn’t know how it was spelled)but thought that had to be wrong.
Always go with your first instinct. ;^)
The whole show is just off this year. From the contestants, to the judges to the audiance...awkward pauses, no enthusiasm...weirdness all around.
I keep saying Don Rickles should be a judge next year. I should send an email to the show.
Awww...now I feel bad for her.
Attempts Bill Wither's "Lean On Me." Starts off a little shakey, but builds nicely. Decent job.
Randy: I don't know what's happening man. I just wouldn't have picked a soul song like that. Shows imperfections. Wasn't a great choice for me.
Ellen: I love your voice. You have a great, great voice. Great presence, great smile. (wishes it was a different Withers song)
Kara: Didi, it wasn't good. You say you wanted to do something different. I don't know what you mean by different. Karaoke. We lost your uniqueness. All over the place. Competing with all the instruments. Not good.
Simon: Screeching. (somebody in the audience says BOOO! LOL! Simon gives that person a dirty look) (To Didi) You're kind of a cool artist, but you do something generic. (awkward silence) Bad atmosphere in here.
Didi is near tears (again), but keeps it together. I didn't think she was that bad.
I repeat, they’re all getting worse instead of better
I completely agree. Tonight especially there is a weird vibe.
Her voice always reminds me of “Midnight at the Oasis”.
Of course, that song didn’t take Maria Muldaur very far either!
I agree. Seems like i’m watching the children of the corn.
