They hug. She's happy for him, crying.
Lee sings "Beautiful Day" again. Confetti and fireworks rain down on the stage.
Regardless of who you wanted to win (or if you cared) this is one of Idol's best winning moments.
The show, the season, and Simon's tenure as judge ends at 10:06 EST.

True. Winning AI has done little for many, although a few have done well.
There are certainly producers out there, such as Simon, who will grab her and make her into a star (starting by a makeover, ziping her mouth shut and shuttling her old man to the Home for Old Hippies and out of the public eye).

It won’t happen but I didn’t enjoy Ellen in this format. She just stuttered a lot and wasn’t funny either. If Janet Jackson via her friendship with Paula got on AI as a judge, I’d be okay w/it. Janet’s been working since she was on that show that I can’t think of. I won’t be winning any old tv show trivia contests.
