25 Horribly Sexist Vintage Ads

by Oral Adams

Since the 50’s, a lot has changed in way of women’s rights and their duties in and out of the house. I highly doubt any company could get away with phrases like “The Chef [mixer] does everything but cook – that’s what wives are for!” nowadays. Or how about an ad agency pitching a company an idea of a wife bent over her husband’s knee as he prepares to spank her.

If your husband finds out

Women were treated with respect in public pre-Roe. I remember! Men everywhere were kind and paid attention to any woman. All men would open doors, put air in her tires, carry packages, etc.

By George, you're absolutely right!

I was raised in the 50's, and I well remember the respect that men ordinarily showed to women. It was a cultural norm that I was raised to follow, and you know what? Men enjoyed giving women that special treatment. I always have.

Any guy who gets his wife a vacuum cleaner for Christmas is freakin crazy.

You might be surprised to learn that lots of (if not most) married women love receiving household-related tools for presents (as long as you don't forget girly-type gifts).

I got my wife a Kirby vacuum cleaner about 10 years ago for a gift, and she was thrilled. The Kirby is the Rolls-Royce of vacuums. They're the choice of five star hotels, built better than most cars, and last forever.

They're also fairly expensive, but if you buy one, it'll be the last one you ever purchase. It's still one of her most prized possessions.

I knew a guy who got his wife a picture of a vacuum cleaner with an attached “IOU” in a shoe box for their anniversary.

We were there when she opened it and her reaction was, well...let’s just say she was “excited”.

My wife told me later, that under no circumstances, was I to ever entertain the idea. I haven’t.

The market for that is much larger than most people think, even amongst some outwardly Christian women whose husbands have no clue.

I’m so sorry for young people today. They don’t realize that each day, back then, women experienced pleasant non-threatening attention from men. It made life calmer and more uplifted in general for both sexes.

“They become “americanized’ and you’re no better off at that point.”

I have an older friend that is on his 5th or 6th foreign wife. Most (all?) are from the Phillipines. I can’t remember his exact words, but something like “They’re good cooks, great in the sack, and after they gain their green card they are done with you, and you’ve tired of them too. And it’s still a better deal than when I trade in for a new car.”

He was being serious! (I see his point, but still think its nuts!)

I recently found this in an old shed I was tearing down. Not terribly sexist but I'm not so sure it would fly today. I looked everywhere for a date on it but found nothing. Any guesses?

There was so much about our culture back then that made Americans feel secure and strong. The liberal left has steadily eroded and chipped away at everything good, moral, and strong about America throughout our lifetimes, and it shows.

All of the life-threatening legislation and public policy that we conservatives are fighting against once started as small, insignificant seeds in the minds of a few dirty hippies. We allowed them to disperse and plant those seeds across our once great nation, and we did little to stop them.

Now those seeds have grown to tremendous forests of deeply rooted oaks that will take an unprecedented firestorm to burn down.

For my part, I believe that that firestorm has already begun, and is already beyond the point of extinguishing. For now, those oak forests still stand, but I believe that they will soon be consumed in the fire of righteous patriotic anger.

I'm sick of seeing men bashed all the time.

You might enjoy an ad. currently running on TV for Farmers Insurance.....

a young man holding a baby says he is a fire fighter and away from home a lot. Says he knows what is important to protect. A woman appears at his side then is gone. At the end of the ad. he say - still holding the baby - "Everything else is replaceable, (presumably including the wife) this isn't".

Cracks me up every time.

Go to the link for the funny ads. Skip it when you get to the comments, unless you are in the mood for feminist philosophy for the next hour.
