Elon John Sings At Limbaugh’s Fourth Wedding Openly gay singer was reportedly paid $1 million to perform at event

Singer Elton John received a $1 million fee to perform in front of 400 guests celebrating radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh's fourth wedding Saturday night, People Magazine reports. Limbaugh, 59, wed Kathryn Rogers, 33, at the Breakers hotel in Palm Beach, Florida.

Limbaugh is an outspoken opponent of gay marriage while John is openly gay and in a civil partnership with male partner David Furnish. Celebrity guests at the wedding reportedly included former Bush adviser Karl Rove, baseball slugger George Brett, former New York City mayor Rudolph Giuliani, and golfer Tom Watson.

According to People, the couple met six years ago, while Rogers was running a charity golftournament and Limbaugh was in the process of divorcing for the third time. The Palm Beach Post reported that as many as 50 private security guards were hired for the wedding.

Web site Gawker.com hired a plane to fly over the wedding site towing a banner that read "Rush: Congrats on your 4th marriage. XO, Gawker." The saying on the banner was chosen from suggestions made by readers. Rejected suggestions included "This time he really means it," "Wishing you months of bliss," and "Congrats on #4 from those of us who can't have 1."

I don't care if they get along or not...whatever.

It seems a slap in the face of true conservatives who support & listen to Rush's program day after day...

I'm sorry, but to me it seems more than hypocritical!!!---paying that profane man one million dollars.

Many of you don't see it this way, you're defending the choice over and over.

I find it insulting and distasteful....

"The magazine reports that the newlyweds took Limbaugh's private Gulfstream jet to a honeymoon in Mexico and Africa, among other locations."

Perhaps Rush is finally getting to Kenya to get to the bottom of this birth certificate situation!!!

So if he had hired the drug addicts in the Rolling Stones I guess that would have been okay for some people on here. Hey, they’re not gay, that’s for sure!

Imagine if all of us had to live up to the same standards that we put upon Rush. How many people on this site have used openly gay wedding planners that have “partners”? Probably a few. So should you not do business with them because you don’t believe in their lifestyle? Just because you hire someone to do work for you does not mean that you have to agree with everything they say or believe. It means that you like and agree with the product or service they are providing you.

My first reaction was “What was Elton thinking”....Rush basically can afford to buy and sell... if the seller is willing to be bought.....who does this say more about? To me, it says more about Elton John being a hypocrite than Rush being one! Rush showed how he is open to all people succeeding as he says he is...all having freedom to pursue of making the almighty $$

>>> I always thought the B-52s would make a great wedding band

Perhaps but can you imagine the “true conservatives” wailing if the B52s were hired ? Not only a gay guy singing, but a gay guy singing PLUS a red-headed lesbian with a tambourine! Together, breathing the same air as the wedding party. Oh the horror.

Maybe Rush just wanted to hire an entertainer whom we wouldn’t have to worry about hitting on his new wife.

"Maybe Rush just wanted to hire an entertainer whom we wouldn’t have to worry about hitting on his new wife."

In that case, he should have gotten George Michael also. They could have sung the duet of "Don't Let The Sun Go Down on Me". Would have been great!!

“It’s up to him who he hired, but why hire a pusher of the homosexual agenda? I certainly would not.”

I remember during the Prop 8 campaign Elton John said something like he could not understand why gays wanted to get married. Caused quite a stir.

What do you expect from libs? They are so compassionate, they are still making Ronald Reagan alzheimer jokes.

This just in....British Petroleum’s new ad campaign, a catchy little jingle:

There’s a hole in the bottom of the sea,
There’s a hole in the bottom of the sea,
There’s a hole, there’s a hole, there’s a hole
There’s a hole and it’s all owned by BP.

There’s some oil in the hole in the bottom of the sea,
There’s some oil in the hole in the bottom of the sea,
There’s some oil, there’s some oil, there’s some oil,
There’s some oil and it’s all owned by BP.

There’s a fish is some oil in the hole of the bottom of the sea.
There’s a fish in some oil in the hole of the bottom of the sea.
There’s a fish, there’s’ a fish, there’s a fish,
There’s a fish in some oil in the hole, have you heard yet from D.C.?

There’s no bait for the fish in some oil in the hole of the bottom of the sea.
There’s no bait for the fish in some oil in the hole of the bottom of the sea.
There’s no bait for the fsh in some oil in the hole that’s operated by B.P.

There’s no money for the bait for the fish in some oil in the hole in the bottom of the sea....

Anyway, you get it.
Now repeat until every day until BP plugs that hole! Consider it your “ecological mantra”.

Limbaugh is an outspoken opponent of gay marriage

This is the meme. Can someone bring up some of Rush's quotes on this matter? I know that when the issue has been put to a vote, Americans in states across this nation have voted it down. But beyond that, where are the quotes to show he is an "OUTSPOKEN OPPONENT"?

You'd be surprised what singers will take for a private performance. I think Rod Stewart is the same league a million per performance.

Paul McCartney has been giving million dollar living room concerts for connected people (long before he played for Obama).

You don't even have to be FAMOUS, you just have to have the cash.

"The magazine reports that the newlyweds took Limbaugh's private Gulfstream jet to a honeymoon in Mexico and Africa, among other locations."

Maybe he left the country, but he had voiced concerns about going ANYWHERE outside of the US while Obama was president since customs hassled him several years ago with some "gotcha" activism.

Well some of the artists that Rush has expressed liking have passed on, like Bo Diddley (I think Bo was a fan and listener).

Clarence Frogman Henry is still alive and performing. He had one big hit but also a number of other R&B/Soul songs throughout the 60s. He also used to call into Rush’s show.

He also is an Isley Brothers fan, not sure if they are still around.

Rush was a DJ in a “former life”. He’s said that his hearing aid doesn’t let him hear music very well. He has to already know the songs. And he says things like violins are scratchy to him. He’s called out his staff when they’ve brought music from home to use as a bumper because he can’t tell what it is.
