Whatever happened to elegant bouquets?

Nowadays they all look like someone just grabbed a few flowers from the garden.

Question...any Jewish FReepers on this thread can tell me why the groom is wearing a shawl?

So my question stands.

Apparently, they are used for weddings: http://www.jewishbride.com/store/white_silk_gab_tallit.html

Is that a surplus Swiss army tent she is wearing?

During a Jewish wedding, the groom traditionally wears a tallit -- or prayer shawl -- which is the garment worn during Jewish prayer. In some Jewish traditions, the tallit (or "talis") is wrapped around both the bride and groom during the ceremony, to symbolize their unity. Gallery Judaica offers tallits to complement the style of any groom -- and the bride by his side. http://www.galleryjudaica.com/Jewish-Wedding-Checklist.aspx

She looks fat in that blue dress.”

It’s not blue - it’s Recycle Green! Maybe she should have borrowed Michelle’s green shoes to go with it except I’m sure she wore them when she went to Spain.

That dress looks like something Liz Taylor discarded in the 1970’s.

I don't think Chelsea Clinton looks bad (She was born in 1980 and she is now 30 years old).

I truly don’t like strapless wedding gowns on anyone, but other than that Chelsea’s dress was gorgeous. Her hair was done very nicely, too. Not much you can do with a horse-mouth like hers but in general she looked lovely.

That’s as charitable as I get.

Wiki has a piece that says it's OK ~ some folks give it as a wedding present (father in law to son in law, that sort of thing).

But isn't this young man's father part of a tradition from Russia with lady rabbis? I know they do a lot of other things a tad different.

I guess all you guys know more than I do. I didn't wear one. My son in-law didn't wear one, and I doubt I'll see one in October when I attend my third Israeli wedding.
