Something’s fishy. Pigs would’ve been eating pigs to stay alive.

Set aside the issue of animal cruelty. What blithering idiot allows livestock to just die?--this represents a significant investment by someone, at sometime, and anyone in agriculture knows that you never neglect any of your investments, ever. Sell the animals. Sell them at a loss. Or give them away in return for transporting them off of your property. Any one of these options is cheaper than the damages and clean-up costs of turning your stockyards into a death-by-starvation killing-field. This is psychotic behavior.

“I think this is very normal in a lot of farming operations, that you’re going to have dead animals,” she said. “
I think she and the others responsible should be locked up in a cage to die of starvation themselves.
Inhumane treatment of ANY kind of animal is not tolerated in a society which calls itself civilized.
Intelligence test have shown hogs are the equivalent of dogs in the I.Q. realm.
Bastards.

How would you feel if they’d offered to let people shoot them for 25 cents a pound on the hoof?

This story doesn’t make sense.
Pigs will eat anything and everything including their own.

I remember a similar incident about ten years ago where a farmer was in a bad financial situation and sold all the livestock so they wouldn't starve.
He wound up serving a couple of years in federal prison because he didn't let the feds handle it all, though they weren't planning on getting there for months.

If that many dead pigs were on a farm, it would have stunk for a mile around....One dead deer on my property due to being hit by a car made you vomit if you got within 20 feet of it on a day when it was 80.

Did the owner convert to the ROP? That’s the only reason I can see for abandoning so many innocent animals to such a cruel death. :-(

Pretty heartless and disgusting. Poor pigs. The guy had an obligation to the pigs to treat them with respect while they are alive. They are God’s creatures, too. And if he couldn’t do that then he should have sold or given them to someone else. If that wasn’t feasible, he should have put them down in a humane fashion, rather than letting them starve to death without food or water.
