I'm getting a little bit pissy! (yes, it's a vanity)

I've heard varying quotes of how many daily users there on on Free Republic and even the most modest of them has my ire growing. Do ya wonder why?

What's turning my crank is the expenditure of time and energy the Robinsons have to go through every quarter to keep this website alive without the intrusion of advertising.

I am dumbfounded that we haven't gotten to the point that a good number of the people who use this site for anything from entertainment to full tilt activism haven't become monthly donors.

If just half of us became monthly donors for $5 little dollars a month we would ensure that this site will remain strong and sustainable.

I am urging everyone to ping everyone you know and urge them to get on board for a small monthly donation and keep the voice of freedom loud and clear on this wonderful endeavor that we all rely on and find kinship in.

Thank you - Bay

I went to the monthly donor list and it seems very light for the number of users I know frequent this site. I didn't cross check all my ping lists, so I'm not pointing fingers.

I'm just urging everyone to urge others. We need this outlet to stay healthy; there is nothing like it on line!

I agree. I am on a monthly donor plan, and I’m increasing it again as soon as I start my new job in a couple weeks. Come on folks, just $5 on your credit card brings you a 24 hour opportunity to FReep!

Come on folks. Ante up. I’m a $25 a month donor. Give what it takes to go to one movie a month. You know you get that much enjoyment out of this website every month. Otherwise, you are just like a libtard Rat - looking for a free lunch at someone else’s expense. Stand behind your principles with just a small portion of your pocketbook.

I’ve been a monthly donor for years. I pay my share plus that of a bunch of freeloaders that show up. It’s a shame that many of us have to carry the financial burden for others.....maybe they are closet democrats and welfare recipients. True conservatives would belly up and pay their own way. Even $5.00 a month would be a major help.

I’m a Monthly. And when I get my raise in the very near future, I will be all the more generous. You can count on me; I love this place. :)

B*tch away, LOL!

Well, ExCUUUUUSE ME!

I'm soory that I'm not a computer pro. I got a proxy message that my post didn't work, so I resent it and then two of them appeared.

I don't mean to offend but, my sentiment remains the same. This website is by far the state of the art in discussion boards. Any number of the other high volume boards I visit from time to time are like chiseling with rocks. Most of them are so difficult to follow they drive me away in frustration and they are apparently making money doing it. (unlike our honorable hosts)

This is typical of sites that depend on charity

It gets annoying to be hit up every 3 months

If there was a fee to be a member (minimal, $5 per YEAR) the site would make millions

JimRob has no marketing skills whatsoever- this site is suffering for it.

His only reply is he doesn’t want to have to “sell out” (...to “the man” or something maybe) to accept money advertising

This site should be making you RICH JimRob- and WE LIKE THAT KIND OF THING AROUND HERE!!!!!

Capitalism rules. Exploit it to the max~!

$5 annually just to be able to read (also help you keep track or trolls and multiple DUHmmy infiltrators)

$50 to be allowed to post

Larger amounts get you a gold or silver level ‘honorable mention’

Platinum lets you post a web link to your business that appears next to your ID when ever you post....

Come On JimRob~! THIS SITE IS TOO IMPORTANT TO GO BEGGING~!!!

One of FR’s strengths is that ANYONE can read it. And they do. There also are posters out of work who CAN’T give anything. They should be kicked to the curb because Obamas hopey-changey caught them? FR is grassroots. As Jim has said, if those who love it can’t or won’t sustain, it will die.

While I may not appear on the list I am a monthly donor. It happens that my hubby is also a a frequent FR flier and we make a bigger monthly donation in his name. I’m sure I’m not the only one in this situation.

On a side note, and maybe this info is available here in the archives, but I'm wondering what the hard costs are to maintain this site.

This is 'user generated content' within some brilliant blog coding. There are server costs, moderator fees (?), administrative fees, legal/insurance costs, and much much more that many of us might not know about. Would love to know more about the 'behind the scenes'!

(Full disclosure: I OWE and I WILL get straight with my integrity on this.)

Thanks very much, Baynative!

Right now, during this FReepathon, we have been running a New Monthly Donor campaign, where 6 FReepers stepped up to the plate to donate $10 for every New Monthly Donor to sign-up.

I think the total count is currently at 49 or 50 and Buckeye Texan is taking Round 6 which means we’re good to go for 20 more New Monthly Donors, because an anonymous FReeper is taking Round 7 if we can get that far.

You’re right, that if every or almost every regular user donated monthly, we wouldn’t need to hold FReepathons, but it’s also true that many good, loyal members, donate anonymously, and do not wish to be listed, which is why the totals for NeverNeverLand and the snail-mails are always very high.

Jim is on the road right now, traveling to a wonderful FReeper event in Utah, so please let me say that every donation and donor is truly appreciated.

FReepers are the absolute best.

FReepers always come through.

FReepathons are just taking longer than in the past. Obama’s economy and haters that hope to bring Jim and FR down.

NOT HAPPENING!

Thanks again!
