Dolores Hope, who gave up her singing career to spend 69 years at the side of her husband, Bob Hope, pursuing philanthropy and projecting with him the image of an enduring Hollywood marriage, died on Monday in the home she and her husband bought in 1940 in the Toluca Lake section of Los Angeles. She was 102.
She sometimes accompanied her husband on his tours entertaining American armed forces overseas. On a Christmas tour during the Vietnam War, she sang Silent Night to the troops, bringing many to tears.

Wow. I didn’t know she was still alive. God Bless them.
Wow...71 years in the same home...RIP...I pray we see more like them again...soon..
I had the pleasure of meeting her for lunch at her home in Palm Springs in 1996. What a gracious lady!
May God bless you, Dolores!
In 1984 Bob Hope’s Jet flew into Monroe, Louisiana with Mr. Hope for a performance in Ruston. They used the FBO where I worked.
Mr. Hope had left for his performance and the pilots were having a drink of very expensive scotch from fine crystal glasses. I asked them what Mr. Hope was really like. Their answer was that the man you see on the stage is the real deal and they could not say enough good things about him. The Pilot in Command was sitting on the stairway of the Jet, I think it was an HS-125, and said, “and Mr. Hope knows we are drinking his scotch.”
Bob Hope is one of my favorite comedians and greatly undervalued as one of America’s top entertainers, due largely to a movie career that faded during the late 60s and a truly wretched series of TV specials in his later years.
But when he was young and brash in the 30s and 40s and even into the 50s, there were few that could top his comic talent. His radio shows are still highly entertaining and his movies are some of America’s greatest comic films.
He depended on writers, but he chose wisely and his skills at physical comedy and dancing were first rate. His comic persona was every bit as developed as Chaplin or Keaton. He was the quintessential American entertainer — who just happened to be born in England.
For all that, his personal life was...um...well, let’s just say that Dolores must have been a very forgiving person to have stayed with him all these years.
They both lived very long lives on this earth. The article states that Mr. Hope did have a wandering eye, but, Delores stated it didn’t bother her because she felt she was prettier than most of them. LOL, you gotta love her spirit.
I met them both while I was in the Army in 1988. He came to Korea for a show just before the olympics. They were an amazing couple that had the time of their life where ever they went. It was my personal pleasure to be their escort during their trip to the DMZ.
He was an amazing man. And what you see on screen is what you got in person. There was nothing phony about him.
My fiancee’, his dad and uncle worked on the Hope’s home many times. Bob Hope was always friendly but very busy. Mrs. Hope was always very gracious and concerned about bringing them lunch and beverages. They all thought the world of her and Mr. Hope.
Mr.& Mrs Hope were the real deal. I only saw Bob Hope on stage once in 1969; his show brought a little bit of home to a lot of tired Marines. You are very to have met them both in person.
God bless both Bob and Dolores Hope for all they gave to us and have done for us
oh wow, prayers for both of them. reunited.
I saw him in the local Sav On drug store.
RIP Dolores and say hello to Bob for us....:)
an icon of my youth ..Godspeed his dear wife
What a couple. RIP, to both of them.
