A new map of the Moon has revealed an abundance of titanium ore that is up to 10 times richer than on Earth, a finding that could one day lead to a lunar mining colony, astronomers said on Friday.
The discovery was made thanks to a camera aboard the US Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, which swept the surface of the Moon, scrutinising it in seven different light wavelengths.

"Lunar titanium is mostly found in the mineral ilmenite, a compound containing iron, titanium and oxygen," they said.
"Future miners living and working on the Moon could break down ilmenite to liberate these elements.
"In addition, Apollo data shows that titanium-rich minerals are more efficient at retaining particles from the solar wind, such as helium and hydrogen. These gases would also provide a vital resource for future human inhabitants of lunar colonies."

Please show me where in the Constitution it allows the govt. to spend (even if it had the money, which is doesn’t) to colonize the moon?
did you notice that:
1+4=5
5+4=9
9-4=5
9+1+4=12 which is the number on inches in a foot?
ok, that last part isnt true, but the rest is.
WOW!
And much longer drives.
Titanium treasure? It’s mine, I call it!
Mentioned is helium but not helium-3. Add helium-3 extraction to the operation...
Ok, I’m stretching a bit.
What would you have said to Secretary Seward in 1867?
Titanium is not that hard to find on earth. It’s the most common white pigment in paints and other white colored things.
Or the western portion of the North American continent.
The real question is whether the “Moonies” work cheaper than Earthmen. If so, it’s time for a MAFTA (Moon-American Free Trade Act). I haven’t heard of a GAFTA (Galactic-American . . . .) so I guess our government hasn’t made contact with the UFO pilots yet.
And speaking of helium... http://www.strindbergandhelium.com/content/iron.html
And then there's HAFTA, the Half Assed Free Trade Agreement.
Moon mites.
Of course, helium balloons would just lay on the surface...
I’m one of those idiots that think if the human race doesn’t get off the planet, the next planet wide extinction event will be all she wrote. We’re basically a pimple on the azz of mother nature. We’ve been lucky so far.
Heh... thanks, that was great!
