Sir, I taught the many years without those instructions. And I patted the many children on the back when they did good work. And when the children needed help with a button I helped them, and taught them how to button it themselves. Not one child suffered for it.
Are you the kind of person that doesn’t go up to the school and check out whether some f****t is teaching your child, and know that you can request a different teacher? Do you never spend time with your children’s teacher so you know you can trust them with your child for 8 hours a day?
This is not the 1940’s. And I never saw a teacher treat a child with disrespect all the years I was in school. I did see one teacher slap a child who told her ‘F’ You’, and thought they deserved it since all she said to him was Please sit down.
Maybe I’m just glad I never went to school in the Chicago ghettos. They tend to treat everybody there with mob rule.
You obviously are much younger than I and, right, this is not the '40s. This school was James G. Blaine School (he was a Republican candidate for president in the late 19th century) located in a middle class neighborhood on the near North side in Chicago (near Wrigley Field). It was not the ghetto. The Chicago of the 1940s was much different ethnically than it is today. And corporal punishment in public schools did exist at that time. Old timers will remember.
Well, that’s a shame, but it still has no relation to what I originally posted. When old Al Capone and the City Outfit was running Chicago, I guess it was a kinder gentler Chicago, then.
Visiting DC right now and heard about this on the local AM news.
Melbourne makes the news each time I go away!
Thanks for the ping and another laugh at the lack of sense we are all faced with each day!
