I've got a conceal Carry choice between CZ 2075 40 cal or Sig Sauer P 250 40 cal. Both are sub compacts and the size, weight and price differences are within reason. I have not shot either gun but have been going through any reviews I can find. (the reason for the 40 cal is because I presently have a Glock 22 and want to go small)
Both gun makers get rave reviews but the Sig is a fairly new model and a number of reviews indicated various issues.
I'd like to shoot both guns before I buy one but I don't know if I'm going to get a chance.
Any help on the best way to proceed will be appreciated.
My usual suggestion is it all comes down to personal preference and you can only decide on that with range time.
However, just a couple of thoughts on downsides (which are pretty minor).
The Sig is double action only and although it has a shorter barrel, the grip is still pretty large. The CZ I believe is heavier and the narrower grip may take some getting used to. It is double action on the first round and single action on subsequent firings.
I love CZ’s extra safety mechanisms built in such as the decock lever.
Both are very reliable, both are very accurate, and I doubt you would be disappointed with either.
If you have a chance, also check out the Walther PPS40.
I bought the XDM 9 full size and love every time I shoot it. So far Ive put over 500 rounds through it and no problems.
Very accurate, single action feel to the trigger and comes with a loader, 3 clips with a holder, and also a holster all in a case.
Or, ax for free advice on FR and have someone opine to you that really the only concealed carry piece in the world is the Smith model 642, which actually it is.
:)
That said, pick up those .40 caliber empties, (I call them "dimes"), store them in a temperate dry place, and when you've got maybe 500 or so run out and buy an RCBS rock-chucker and accessories and start reloading.
I have owned and shot plenty of Sigs and never once have I been disappointed. In fact, in every caliber, the Sig was probably the most accurate pistol. Never jams, never failure to feed, utterly reliable and great shooters all. + I love the concept of the modular pistol and the ability to have more than one option depending on what you may require. I say Sig P 250 with two sizes, Sub and maybe full? I have handled CZ’s and didn’t love them. Nothing bad to say about them but nothing that made me want to own one.
One other pistol I really like for your criteria is the beretta PX 4 subcompact in .40. If you have not checked it out I think it is worthy of consideration.
Go to Cobra64’s home page, then pm him. He is the resident Freeper Sig authority.
I carried a Sig for years as a law enforcement officer and shot thousands of rounds through it. IMHO, it is the Cadallac of handguns. It still comes down to what fits you best personally.
Both are good weapons. I think Sig has the best customer service of most of the gun manufacturers
Me too...Kahr CW9.
The one YOU personally can hold with the most comfort.
For ME it is this one...
A .22 that hits is worth more than a .40 that misses.
Grip safety, cocked indicator, round in chamber indicator...and way more accurate than I am.
BTW...if you're ever looking for a way to carry concealed; a way you can carry under a T-shirt, Polo shirt, almost anything, check out the Kangaroo carry holster.
I absolutely love mine! And they're cheap!
I use the same holster for a full-sized 1911 .45, my XD .40 subcompact and a KelTec PF9; all way different sized guns.
I can literally carry my 1911 all day comfortably and totally concealed under a light polo or T-shirt (although I kind of go in for Hawaiian/Bowling shirts for most of my work days).
Last night I was out on a ride-along with the local LEOs and carried my 1911 for 10 hours with no problems.
I took a look at the video on the Kangaroo holster, it looks good. I don’t know that I could ever get to it once it was in place.
I will take a look at the Springfield though. Thanks.
