UNBELIEVABLE?! Newt Loves FDR, Models Himself After Woodrow Wilson and Admires SEIU’s Andy Stern Tuesday, Dec 13, 2011 at 3:52 PM EST

t’s not as if Newt couldn’t have known his past comments were going to eventually be called into question. He’s capably navigated his way through his big government tendencies so far and miraculously still has solid support in the Tea Party. Will the latest damaging clip have any impact? Gingrich is caught praising his favorite president of the 20th century: FDR. Yup, he picked the mother of all progressives ahead of Ronald Reagan.

Watch the video montage below:

Cue sound of heads exploding across the country…NOW!

Seriously?! This is unbelievable.

“This goes back to what Newt Gingrich said on this program. You got to get things done. That’s akin to saying we all love the Constitution but there are things we got to do,” Glenn warned.

“FDR did get things done, and then they were ruled unconstitutional,” Stu joked.

But that’s not the worst thing – on the clip at the top of the page Glenn reads a story where Gingrich praised SEIU’s Andy Stern in one of his books.

In his book “Real Chance: From the World That Fails to the World That Works,” Gingrich praises the SEIU head, who remains a close adviser of the President Obama. Pitching the need for conservatives to respect organized labor, while simultaneously pushing back against some of Labor’s more cherished legislative goals, he wrote the following:

” Conservatives cannot cheer unions overseas and then be blindly anti-union here at home. There are legitimate historic reasons for workers to organize together, and there is a strong need for a healthy, competitive, union, movement that helps improve the lives of its members and the competitiveness of our country.

Is Glen Beck being hysterical here or is this a case of Newt flip-flopping? More importantly, is Beck over the top? And if not Newt, who does he think will best Obama in the general?

I don’t trust Beck any longer.

Besides, Newt’s political history is long and known, and anyone can research his opinions.

Lol, does he even know what a "Realpolitik Wilsonian" is? It's a FOREIGN POLICY approach that has NOTHING to do with a Progressive domestic agenda.

Realpolitik Wilsonian:

Realpolitik (see also Political realism; from German: real "realistic", "practical" or "actual"; and Politik "politics", German pronunciation: [ʁeˈaːlpoliˌtiːk]) refers to politics or diplomacy based primarily on power and on practical and material factors and considerations, rather than ideological notions or moralistic or ethical premises. In this respect, it shares aspects of its philosophical approach with those of realism and pragmatism.

Wilsonianism or Wilsonian are words used to describe a certain type of ideological perspectives on foreign policy. The term comes from the ideology of United States President Woodrow Wilson and his famous Fourteen Points that he believed would help create world peace if implemented.

Common principles that are often associated with "Wilsonianism" include:

See Newt talking about it in the obvious context of foreign policy.

Glenn Beck is an utter moron for going into a meltdown over thinking Newt was advocating Progressivism because of saying this.

Glenn has said many times he supports Rick Santorum. Before she left the race, he supported Michele Bachmann. He's consistently supported those two candidates from day one.

Beck is crossing a line with this. It smacks of progressive media sabotage to influence/direct SC primary. If it is despicable when Dims do it, it is doubly so when a supposed standard bearer for the truth does it.

& yes the whole Mormon thing is driving him IMO. Romney is no better than Newt & arguably a hell of a lot worse onthe issues Beck champions. So he will magnify in one what he ignores or spins for the other.

I think Glenn has jumped the shark. He is now seeing “progressives” behind every door.

Progressives don’t balance the budget like Newt did. Progressives don’t reform welfare for the better like Newt did. Progressives don’t work with one of the greatest Conservatives in Ronald Reagan. The list could go on and on but you get the idea. Yes, one can cherry pick on Newts statements over the years but what he has ACTUALLY DONE is what counts. GO NEWT GO! Glenn Beck be damned for being a narrow minded fool.

Notice that Beck - while he doesn’t directly endorse Romney - goes berserk whenever the inevitability of Milt is in question.

No need for zotting. Just show that Glenn Beck has gone nuts with evidence. Let’s use our brains not our emotions as if we act like the proverbial three monkeys.
