We never made bets, but my sister’s Golden Retriever would do the same thing - amazing. I’m guessing it was the smell of our hands on the rock. I had her dog out on the boat with me fishing once. After about a half a day and stopping at perhaps 6 places, I finally figured out that she was calm in places where I didn’t catch fish, and would bark a little and get excited where I would catch fish! So that afternoon I just went slow around the shore and stopped when she got exited. I figure the same thing - she could smell them.
I learned the hard way a German Shepherd is not a water rescue dog. Mine kept trying to rescue me when we first started swimming. Thought I was going to lose my hand at the wrist. They have the second strongest jaw among dogs according to Animal Planet. Also, I’ve been the unfortunate victim a few times of the dog diving for a toy and grabbing a little more with it like a hand or a foot. Big ouch!
I have never seen these images. They are great! It’s amazing how the water dogs look at ease in the water.
oh to have pc skills......if’n I did...I’d slip in a Michelle Obama fangs on pic
Oh my goodness! Be sure to click on the individual photos to see them full-sized. These are amazing, odd, and wonderful.
If you have a swimming pool, I guess you should be thankful it doesn’t come with a plug like a bathtub. Imagine trying to keep the pool full with your dog constantly wanting to retrieve the drain plug.
If only you could train your sisters Retriever to bark when you get to a place that has some fish, so you would know when to cast your line and when not to waste your time.
Thanks for the ping!
Oh sorry - I wasn’t clear. That IS what she was doing. I would troll and when she got excited I would stop and fish and catch some.
Dogs are pretty amazing. Our dog somehow has a good sense on good people vs. not so good people. The one neighbor is a nice enough guy, dresses well, but is always ending up in small-time trouble for something. Dog barks and barks at him. When the guy’s brother comes over (looks more like a bum, but is a “good” guy) the dog is fine.
LOL! Amazing pictures!
My vote for the best response!
And thanks Chuck for the ping! Nice diversion from the evil happenings of the day.
