Actually, she likes “The House That Built Me”.

I like that one, too. I can see it happening right here in this house, where my father indeed built the kitchen whose ideas my mom had collected from cut-outs of magazines.

Some dogs buried around here, too.

I don’t think he will accept that, since his wife is “smarter than anyone I know,” and has pooh-poohed my attempt at giving him a book on the Atkin’s Diet, saying it was “bad for his heart.”

She may be smart, but she is not wise, and she is doing more damage than she knows. Which is why I didn’t bring it up again while they were here. I told him it was his responsibility to bury ME, not the other way around, and if he didn’t take care of his diabetes, that is exactly what will happen.

I won’t bring it up again. I have given him the info he needs to help himself, and keep asking if he has lost weight. He seems to think the insulin pills will make up for his over-eating. They won’t. he stands the chance of losing toes, then feet, then lower legs, plus having heart failure, kidney failure and blindness. It’s all on the ‘net for him to check out.

It HURTS!

YAH! There IS the Perfect Country and Western song, but I can’t recall who recorded it, just that I heard it on the back to St. George from Las Vegas, many years ago!

Steve Goodman wrote it, David Allen Coe had a hit with it. Steve Goodman (also wrote “City of New Orleans,” the classic train song) is dead, but I think Coe is either still alive or reanimated. He was once a heck of a vocalist, but I hear hard-livin’ has wrecked his voice.

Gentlemen, sorry for the delay in replying to your last couple of posts. It was somewhat of an honor to be offered the chance to join you gentlemen on your castle as you flit about the solar system. While I have never been as far out as Mars, I have been to Venus a couple of times and believe me, it is just a fly trap.

The ‘Undead Thread’? I must apologize. I did not know that Zombies were posting here on FR. Apparently not everyone is observing Rule #2...The Double Tap. Alas, I guess that rules are made to be broken.

I think it best that I remain firmly upon terra forma upon which I entered life.

You guys can do me a favor though, next time you go whizzing(huh, huh, I said whizzing...) by the Milky Way, you can grab me some candy bars and you can just drop them off at my mailbox here at FR. So in closing let me just say, May the force be...Live long and pro...rule #4, wear seatbelts.

"Gotta have the dog!"

At a McDonald's I used to visit up this way, they had a sticker on the glass door at about eye level. It said, "No Dogs Allowed, Except Seeing-Eye Dogs".

.

I always figured they had the sign posted too high.

"I have been to Venus a couple of times and believe me, it is just a fly trap."

I've been working on the problem of finding good places to create livable habitats other than on Earth, but here in the Solar System.

Venus offers good possibilities, once one works out the rules for a somewhat different place; just as elevated equatorial locations, which are good places to grow coffee and cocoa beans, have quite comfortable environments for humans as well.

Among other things, the habitats of Venus will be like Dorothy's house on its way to Oz; the scenery might tend to change a bit around them.

Venus' only problem is that the solid ground is too far down from the comfortable temperature and pressure, so folks will have use the air of their greenhouses like the air of a hot-air balloon, and just stay up where it's comfortable.

But my point in bringing up the matter is to suggest that I am planning, as soon as it becomes feasible, to name a little rinky-dink airport in that vicinity "Fly Trap".

It would just be the right thing to do.

Is Venus or The flying Castle farther or closer than through night and day and in and out of weeks and almost over a year? Where is this flying Circus people talk about? The one with the big foot. You would think that two flying object with mass would eventually attract each other.

"Is Venus or The flying Castle farther or closer than through night and day and in and out of weeks and almost over a year?"

Farther or closer from Earth is presumably your question. Venus is closer to Earth than the Flying Castle is to Earth.

It would take about a year of traveling to get from Earth to Venus, and perhaps two years to get from Earth to the Flying Castle.

Interestingly and paradoxically, it would take less time to get from Venus to the Flying Castle under most circumstances. This is because the transit time would be at a higher average speed, and because more frequent close-passage opportunities occur because of Venus' faster orbital speed.

"Where is this flying Circus people talk about? The one with the big foot."

That's not a real Bigfoot, you know.

"You would think that two flying object with mass would eventually attract each other."

The relative masses of the Flying Circus and the Flying Castle are negligible in the vast expanses of the solar system. Any attraction between them, or any other comparison, can be ignored.
