"...dimmit, got me scratchin like a runninnoselongearedbonedigger"
Then later
"It is truly , a wonder of the world"
Rom 1:25 They exchanged God's truth for a lie and worshipped and served the creation rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
Reminds me of a Woody Allan line, “It’s a model socialist community, it’s based on an ant farm.”
In some way, it sort of forces us to rethink the definition of "intelligence"..it's almost like in computer science..what I think they call "distributed processing"..each ants' miniscule brain linked together..the collective whole is somehow far more powerful.
BTW..do you happen to know where in Africa that was, and what species of ant? Other species, like the army ants..have evolved a totally different, yet equally successful, model..the army ants swarm through the jungle, eating everything they encounter..they stay in one spot for a few days..the form a "living nest"...they all link thir limbs together...and then, when the surrounding food source is all eaten..they swarm to another location..almost the exact opposite of the ants in the video..
Fascinating. It looks like an alien city, which in a way it is.
ggg (sort of) ping — this absolutely amazing.
Interestingly, it is a literal sunken civilization.
Remember that ants have been around for an estimated 110 to 130 million years. More than 12,500 out of an estimated total of 22,000 species have been classified.
Ants have, over time, developed incredibly complex abilities, everything from using agriculture to grow food fungus, to ranching of aphids. Some ants raid other ant colonies to steal their eggs, which they raise as slaves.
Some ants, when flooded, cluster together in apple sized balls that float, with a slow rotation to give those at the bottom time on the top to breathe at intervals.
There are specialized fungi that attack ants and take control of their brains. The other ants can tell that an ant is infected, so will carry them far outside of their territory, lest the fungus spread to the entire colony.
Warning: David Attenborough horror movie.

:o)
Bump for later
Love the ant hill video, but I like the site itself even better. I wound up just hitting the ‘random video’ key over and over again. Tons of interesting stuff there.
