From their brunette hair to their dress sense, twin sisters Vicki and Valerie Darger have a number of things in common.
But the 42-year-olds share more than just their looks - they are both married to the same man.
The sisters are in a polygamous marriage with Joe, 43, who is also wed to a third woman - their cousin Alina. The Dargers, who are fundamentalist Mormons from Salt Lake City, Utah, live together in a large family home and have 24 children between them.
Vicki, currently a stay-at-home mother, has been married to Joe, who runs a construction company, for 22 years. Valerie joined the family as his third wife in 2000.
In the eyes of their Fundamentalist Mormon religion, all three women are equally married to Joe.
They each have their own bedroom, and Joe alternates between the three rooms each evening.
Valerie, who works in the family cleaning business with Alina, 43, said: 'The fact that Joe was married to Vicki didn't bother me at all. I took it as a sign he would be a good husband for me as well.
'As teenagers, Vicki and I liked some of the same guys. I thought it might even be good if we married the same man.'

"No man can serve two masters."
He who has more than one wife is the biggest fool in the world.
Judging by the pic with all the kids, he doesn’t seem to be needing much assistance.
[Like I said as long as they arent taking tax money, I couldnt care less.]
I used to live near SLC, now in northern ID. There are a LOT of polygamites in Utah, Idaho, heck even southern BC in Canada.
It is a well-known “secret” that most of them collect welfare. You have one woman in the “family” that is legally married, the others are all “single” mothers so they qualify for all of the gubbmint goodies that go to promote unmarried motherhood.
I knew of one fellow in Ogden who had a good paying job at a building supply store where he was one of the top salesmen. One day he wasn’t at work anymore. Discrete inquiries were made. Turns out he had 6 wives and he quit to manage the “family business”. The family business consisted of all of the welfare income that 5 of his wives collected.
Where do you think all of the money that Warren Jeffs had came from?
I wonder if this guy is sleeping with the kids too? Is that when we will hear about them next?
and their 24 children who are being raised to think this is normal and okay? I bet he is having sex with a bunch of the kids too.
I don’t believe not taking government aid is a supreme factor in a society of people.
“...and have 24 children between them.”
Note to Joe: Stay away from raw clams and oysters.
I expect they could pay a lawyer to have pretty much the same rights as if they were all married. As others have said, if they are not taking from the government and supporting themselves it does not bother me either. The criminal polygamists are the ones taking underage girls and gaming the welfare system. Polygamy was made illegal as a political act against the Mormons, not for any moral reasons and no matter what the historical results were.
They look happy now, may they all grow old together and stay that way. Personally I’d say you need either 1, 2 or 4 or more, 3 is the wrong number. Joe needs another wife, lol.
Polygamy is peeing in your own gene pool!
From the Republican platform of 1856:
“That the Constitution confers upon Congress sovereign powers over the Territories of the United States for their government; and that in the exercise of this power, it is both the right and the imperative duty of Congress to prohibit in the Territories those twin relics of barbarism Polygamy, and Slavery.”
Our forefathers were wise to be against this rubbish.
Say what you will, the guy has some impressive stamina!
“As long as nobody is on any government aid I dont care how these adults choose to order their lives. Neither should anyone else.”
IOW we don’t need to add another department, in every law enforcement agency:
—homicide
—vice
—polygamy and homosexual marriage
How about a local election, to see if voters want to raise taxes to pay for the polygamy/homosexual marriage “police.”
Holy shiite.
If Joe can service the three wives AND some kids, what jungle juice is he running on?
I don't see that as a problem, in fact, I know many right now who would gladly give theirs away to the first taker.
It’s hard enough listening to one wife, never mind three of them.
Joe could have done worse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~``
Maybe. But them wives could have done better.
As long as you’re going to have two wives, you might as well have some variety.
Joe hung like Ox!
