A wonderful example of a professional athlete who did it the right way, and who lived a productive life after retiring. RIP Bob!
Bob Boozer led a good, productive life. Sad to see it cut short.
Was Boozer a drinker?
Wow, this is sad. Boozer was a great layer for the Bulls. He was on the Bulls for their first four seasons and played with Jerry Sloan and Guy Rodgers. Johnny Red Kerr was their head coach. Boozer was a great pure shooter.
I remember whenever Boozer scored the PA announcer would say, “Two for Boooooooooooooozer.”

Condolences to Bob Boozer’s family and friends.
LOL. I remember that too. Chick Hearn, the legendary and super-partisan LA Lakers announcer, after hearing him, once said, "And we've got some clown on the public address system!"
Look at the mans stats. Anyone who could score and rebound like that, would be a superstar today. Prayers to his family
He had an interesting free-throw shooting style — he stood off to one side of the FT line instead of in the middle. Did pretty well from there. I liked watching him play.
I remember that time with the Bulls. Were Erwin Mueller and Jimmy Washington on some of those teams?
That was when I first got interested in basketball, both watching and playing. I remember Bob Boozer as being one of the Bulls' best players. I especially followed the Bulls a few years later, when Dick Motta became the coach, and they had Jerry Sloan, Bobby Weiss, Chet Walker, Bob Love, and Tom Boerwinkle. Went to lots and lots of games at the old Chicago Stadium in the early '70s.
Flynn Robinson, too, is another name I recall.
Yes, in 1966 the Bulls were an expansion team and Erwin Mueller and Jimmy Washington were on that team.
Don’t forget Stormin Norman...Norm Van Lier (RIP). When he and Sloan were on the floor together they were the best defensive guard tandem in the league. Nobody was tougher than those two...they shut down everyone.
I once sat down on a bench at O’Hare Field on my many passes through there, and Johnny Kerr sat down on the other end. This was during the time that he was coaching the Phoenix Suns; since I myself was a Phoenician at the time, I recognized him from the games I attended and also the sports on TV.
Chicago news/sportscaster Wendell Smith came along and sat next to Johnny, and carried on an informal conversation with him.
