Here is a better way to look at this ... the government should not be in the marriage business, and marriage is not a political issue. Gay people, for the most part, express a desire to get married for the benefits that are extended to married couple [rights like Social Security benefits, child care tax credits, Family and Medical Leave to take care of loved ones, and COBRA healthcare for spouses and children]. Government should allow people to engage in civil unions [this includes men and women], only. Marriage should be left to the churches. Then, any one can have a civil union [man/lady, lady/lady, man/man, mom/son, dad/daughter, brother/sister, person/multiple people] which extends to that civil union the governmental rights that married couple now enjoy which include the marriage tax credit, right to pass assets without taxation upon death, the right to make life ending decisions [pulling the plug]. The whole issue dies in a blink. This should not have to be a political thing. Moving the line in the sand never works ... better just to erase it. I believe that my wife and I are married in GOD's eyes and believe that we have a civil union in the eyes of government. It should not be anything different then a partnership, LLC, or LP.

Not sure what got this guy ZOT but I have argued the same thing, probably a little more fully than he did.
I once wanted to get marry but not anymore, in the so called traditional sense.
I see marriage as being assaulted every and the tenets of religion being undermined by the homosexual lobby.
My feeling is I don’t need a government to tell me I am married. That is for me and my wife to decide, as well proclaim in front of our congregation and friends.
I don’t know when the state got involved this business but it is now and undeniable racket.
Once the homosexual lobby is fully entrenched and the so called “human rights” get a old of Bed & Breakfasts or Photographers it’s time to take to the argument sideways or off the table.
If Gays want to be sanctioned by the state why should I want the same? I then and any beliefs are then subject their lobby efforts.
If we ain’t part of the game we become a separate lobby that seeks not inclusion but exclusion.
We didn’t marry under the state and if the majority of us do that it undermines their game.

My arm is killing me just holding it in this position to type as I recently rotator cuff surgery and this might be my only post today.
I will not participate in a system that seeks ultimately restrict what the pulpit may preach or the conscious dictate.
I will also not allow gays to use the word marriage. It has a meaning and intend for it to stay that way otherwise their relationship is just the same as any other and your beliefs are undermined by law.

Wish I could add my Dos Centavos in a cogent manner today. I do have a long dissertation somewhere in my history on this subject but, I had a surgery that is pretty much making it painful to hold my left arm in the position so I can type and really I keep having to correct my typing.
So pain and frustration are getting old and I’ve only been at this a few minutes.
If it is to be defined then it should be under the Judeo Christian definition as “A” man and “A” woman, in the singular sense.

The reason the “government” needs to be involved are two reasons:
1. The fags are pushing pushing pushing and they need to be shoved strongly back into the closet with a giant NO!!!! TWO MEN OR TWO WOMEN CANNOT GET “MARRIED”!!!! END OF STORY!!!”
2. There has always been some form of government (tribal, town, city, state, province, country, whatever) recogniztion of the legal state of marriage - for inheritence, legitimacy, protection of children, husband and wife respective rights and responsibilities, etc. If this recognition of marriage by the (whichever level) of government is trashed, it will further destroy what is left of the natural family, which is the utter foundation of human civilization.
What would happen next? Just imagine how far down into the feral sewer we are now, and then multiply it...

Back to my point; as they incrementally win at some point one has to look at the game and realize “The Deck is Stacked”.
For me, when I notice cheating with enough non verbal imprimture I find other people who will agree to play by one set of rules and let cheaters cheat each other.

Why should I play a game where even honest thinkers refuse to give voice to their thoubhts or stick to their principles.
I hang out with a good many friends who are and have heard some.pretty rough things. Fortunately I am the #1 child from a large family. Having lived with my competitors I can take it and dish it back just as rough.
I’ve been firm in my response and said what we are saying here and that I am not changing.

To which I have replied “Wow, that was almost an amazing response. Synthetic as it was. Now, you want your margarhita like a girl.or the way we usually drink, hangover style?”
Usually everyone laughs, probably because I stood my ground and usually make fun of the whole thing.
Even had one of these discsussions at a party that could only be described as “Gaytopia” a.couple of months ago.
I was definitely the minority and the place was a little light on the types with “hips, lips and *its” of.the kind I like.
Usually at these parties there are more gals available.
So friends yes. Them getting the word marriage as some equalizer and tool to marginalize my position?
Not gonna happen.

I’m sure us hetero’s would be in better relationships if we were required to do same, which will happen they codify marriage equality into law.

Fried food is a terrific analgesiac and should make pain go away for a.few hours. Especially since.the woman who owns the Giant Artichoke is beautiful and I like talking to her in my terrible Spanish which makes her laugh.
