How Does Obama "Recover" at His Next Debate?
Self | October 6, 2012 | PJ-Comix

Posted on 10/06/2012 7:31:44 AM PDT by PJ-Comix

I'm trying to wrap my mind around this but it is being said that Obama MUST go on the offensive and be aggressive in the next debate. But how can he do this since the theme of the debate is foreign policy and he will have to answer questions (which he has so far refused to answer) about the debacle in the Middle East, specifically the storming of the U.S. Embassy in Cairo and the death of the U.S. Ambassador in Libya? How can he justify clinging for long to the false excuse that the death of the Ambassador to Libya in Benghazi was due to a silly YouTube video when his own intelligence community knew withing 24 hours that it was a PLANNED attack? And why did he allow Susan Rice to stick with the video excuse on interviews days after the attack?

I just don't see how Obama can be anything more than very defensive on this but perhaps someone out there has some other insight on how he can win the foreign policy debate on Oct. 16.

Um, the focus of the next ‘debate’ is a townhall on foreign policy.

and so many are saying that Obama will do much better in the second debate? they can’t be serious. How will Obama explain the Nuclear crisis he has been ignoring aside from the 9/11 debacle?

I don’t think it’s entirely a loser for Obama. We shouldn’t let the recent debacles in North Africa make us overconfident.

Obama would be wise to admit that his administration made mistakes, and make it clear that they have learned how to prevent similar debacles from happening again. He could contrast his foreign policy experience with Romney’s total lack of foreign policy experience.

However, I don’t think Obama knows how to take accountability for mistakes in a gracious, mature manner- so most likely, he will act defensive and thus be an easy mark for Romney.

Reckon something “earth shaking” will keep Obama from the last debate?

After all, the recent “mendacious yet convenient” unemployment figures have escaped the “noted” journalistic skepticism of the MSM...Obama can arbitrarily start WWIII and they will say "cool" and "only racists dissent."

I don't think the town hall format will be much to obama's advantage. Yes, he will have a stacked audience, we can just assume that, and he will get softer questions than Romney. But without structure Obama will yammer endlessly and aimlessly, like he does at a press conference.

He is so in love with his own voice that he forgets the audience may actually be waiting for some kind of definitive answer. On TV he comes across as boring and surly, if you have watched any of his rare pressers.

I understand where you're coming from, but the TH format may just backfire on Obama..if all the questions are posed by weirdos like you described..that will turn off many who are watching...Victims are the Dem base....and if they are featured..it will annoy many in the middle.

Remember, the general consensus among conservatives before the first debate was that Lehrer was in the tank for Obama. Mitt did a great job, but the fact that Lehrer stayed out the way made it much easier for Mitt. Imagine if, say, David Gregory had been the moderator..

A good answer for such a question as boxers/briefs is to ask the questioner, “Why do you ask, or what is the purpose of your question?”

If Candy applies too much focus upon the debacles, look for little barry to whine off an accusation that h. clinton is responsible for the failures in foreign affairs for his administration.

" The meme is to flog Romney and Ryan’s lack of foreign policy experience and vet their policy team. "

That can't be their fallback position.

Hey Romney team ? Romney campaign manager ? listen up !

If Obama and his team tries to flog you with the lack of Foreign policy ?

Remind people that a challenger to the incumbent President certainly can not have foreign policy experience because they have not been elected president yet.

Also ? Romney ?

If they try to flog you and Paul Ryan by not having foreign policy experience ?

Just say " of course we don't have any FAILED foreign policy experience " .

ummm, it’s domestic and foreign policy and I can’t imagine the media finding people to ask substantive questions on foreign policy other than “how good did it feel when you killed Bin Ladin”. I expect the domestic policy to dominate the discussion because that is where Barry is supposed to “shine”. There is no way his palace guards will allow anyone to question dear leader.

The woman moderating the next TH debate was on Medved yesterday and swore up and down that Gallup will be picking the audience from independent undecided voters. So we can all rest assured in that regard <\not>. She also stated she screens and picks the submitted questions beforehand as is the normal customary practice. I’m sure it will be stacked heavily against our guy ( I didn’t just fall off the turnip truck).

Meanwhile, I believe Romney is going to shine and do even better the next time around. He will pray quite a bit before hand and this gives him an adequate level of strength plus humility. Obama will just pray to himself, the chosen one, and this will just render him smarmy and arrogant!

Perhaps he should come to the next debate in his Al Green hot pants. That should restore the tingle in Chris Matthew’s legs:

His handlers won’t let him get off point. There is too much to lose here - and they will do anything and everything to win, even to the point of spiking Romney’s water.

Do not underestimate the lengths to which these evil people will go. Peace, love, dove ain’t gonna cut it here.

Candy Crowley is hosting and vetting questions for debate #2 in 10 days. She spoke of it on Hugh Hewitt's radio yesterday.

This townhall would seem to be Obie's best chance, since the Middle East is crumbling and spells trouble in the final debate.

In #2's townhall I'd look for women's issues, the 47% issue, "caring" about those 47%", abortion ?, Bain could come up.

I had early confidence Mitt was the man to solve our problems, and am more convinced now that they'll be ready for whatever surfaces. There are virtually zero issues I'd classify as winners for Obie.

I do believe Mitt Romney is up to the job and can handle himself well in a Town Hall setting.

So as long as he does not do what Bush Sr. did in 1992 by looking at his watch, seemingly disinterested and not in touch..... and by gawd don't do what Al Gore did by making noises, rolling his eyes, huffing and puffing, .... then he will do fine.

You can't fix stupid.

There is nothing they can do short of giving him a teleprompter and scripted debate the next time around.
The next debate is on foreign policy - a catastrophic disaster for Oblamer. From Fast & Furious butchering innocent Mexicans, to the catastrophic failure of this administration at Benghazi on to his lies about Iraq, Afghanistan and expanding his drone wars to Libya, Yemen, Pakistan, Somalia and who-knows-where else... after winning a Nobel Peace Prize, he is even more vulnerable to a merciless excoriation during the debate focused on foreign policy.

Now you will really see him blink and hear him stammer and uhhhhhh...

10 say “I Killed Osama bin Laden”

I agree but after that things are going to go downhill pretty fast on foreign policy. I look for the second debate to be a rinse and repeat of debate #1.

Romney is good with people face to face, Obama actually does not do that well with ordinary people, he still comes off as smarmy.

I can believe that about Romney. People with big close families tend to know how to relate. Obama uses pandering as one of his primary tools, so expect some real barfers.

I just wonder if the effect of the last debate will be to cause the public to look at Obama with eyes a bit more open. If so, he's done.

He only has one thing to say, “I got Bin Laden”. Every time he says it after the first time dimenishes him. Knowing Obama, he will say it within the first 20 seconds and repeat it at least 5 times. Romney should actually start off by thanking Bush, Obama, and the military for the work they put into, and then “especially the military who have sacrificed 7,000 dead and tens of thousands of wounded.”

After that Obama is just an arrogant little child.
