Mixed Martial Arts fighter admits 'she' was born male after speedy knockout

FLORIDA, March 8, 2013, (LifeSiteNews.com) – The Florida State Boxing Commission is considering revoking Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter Fallon Fox’s license after Fox confessed he was born a man.

Fox, 37, had been competing as a woman in the featherweight division and had not previously disclosed his birth sex. He was forced to reveal his secret to Sports Illustrated magazine after a journalist with knowledge of his background questioned him after winning a quarterfinal fight against Ericka Newsome. The fight lasted only 39 seconds and ended when Fox delivered a blow to Newsome’s head with his knee, knocking her out.

Fox took hormones and had surgery to change his appearance to that of a woman in 2006. On his March 1 application for a Florida fighting license, he marked himself “female” and did not disclose his masculine origins. He also claimed to have a California fighting license. Typically, having a license in another state makes the application process faster and smoother. However, California officials said they only received an application from Fox, and it has not yet been approved.

Fox was scheduled to fight a woman April 20, but that fight has been postponed pending the outcome of the investigation into his licensing.

Fox’s agent Brett Atchley said his client is upset by media coverage painting him as having calculated his sex change to achieve success in sports. “The bone of contention for Fallon seems to be people characterizing [him] as dishonest and manipulating, that [he] somehow manifested [his] destiny by saying, ‘I’m going to have this operation and then I’m going to be a fighter and world champion,’” Atchley said.

Fox is also reportedly upset by the backlash from his would-be competitors in the ring, all of whom are women weighing between 135 and 145 pounds.

Championship Fighting Alliance CEO Jorge De La Noval said women fighters have been calling him to complain. “It has gotten to the point where some are saying, ‘I’m fighting her in the next round. Am I fighting a male or female? What’s the deal?’” he said. “I told them the same thing. I'm not pulling [him] from the tournament. [He]’s a female fighter and if [he] goes all the way, [he]’s going to be my champion and I’m very proud of [him]. It’s just a matter of time before we see how this plays out.”

De La Noval was previously unaware that Fox was born a man, but he said he hopes the FSBC allows him to return to the ring as a woman.

“[He] has a license by the Florida State Boxing Commission as a female; [he]’s going to stay in the tournament,” De La Noval told ESPN.com. “[He]’s a female fighter to us. And we’re standing behind [him] when it comes to that. “We're not going to kick [him] out of the tournament. [He]’s going to continue fighting for CFA.”

Added De La Noval, “It wouldn't be fair to cut [him] out of the tournament now. There’s a lot of money on the line for [him] that [he] needs. [He]’s a great fighter.”

De La Noval said he couldn’t imagine the FSBC revoking Fox’s license.

“As a promoter, obviously everyone who comes into my office, what I see is a fighter,” De La Noval said. “I don't ask anyone what their sexual preference is. What they do with their personal life is not my business. [He’]s a sweet girl...And where we stand as a company is that [he]’s a female. [He] has an Illinois driver's license [as a female]. [He]’s a female and [he]’s definitely a fighter. I just don’t see how anybody can revoke [his] license.”

FSBC officials are holding rules workshops next week, at which they plan to address the issue of transgender fighters.

“The commission is in the process of updating its rules for professional MMA events, and this particular topic will be part of our workshops on March 15,” FSBC spokeswoman Sandi Copes Poreda said. “We'll have additional information about the rules workshops after it’s completed.”

The issue of transgender athletes has been receiving increasing attention as gender reassignment surgery becomes more common. In California, controversy arose when a 6’8”, 50 year-old man played college basketball on a women’s team shortly after his sex-change surgery.

South African Olympic runner Caster Semenya received international attention when the International Association of Athletics Federation had her submit to gender testing, suspecting she may have been lying about her sex. The results of that testing were never released, but the IAAF cleared her to return to competition in 2010.

This isn’t bizarre enough. They need to somehow bring dwarfs into the controversy.

You just had to go and toss that one out there.

So? According to the obastard administration, women are equal to men in on the ground combat. What’s a little MMA dust up compared to that? /SARC

If these “transgenders” are equal to their wannabe sex, then why don’t we hear about the female-to-male types pulling these stunts in order to compete in male athletics, hmmmmm? The self-loathing wymyn and misogynist sickos pushing for women in combat want women to die.

Maybe the solution for the MMA is a quota system. For any “girl” tranny to participate, a “male” tranny must play with the regular boyz.

Of course being mental they might just do that... the grotesque irony being that a fauxmale fighter would likely win because normal male athletes would not want to hit a girl.

Olog-hai, you got it right about the hyper-misogyny. What kind of animal hates women so much that he’d transgender himself in order to punch womens’ lights out? Okay, maybe he’d be of use on The View, but still...

Of course a cynics view of marriage would tell you that women have been fighting with castrated males for centuries. :)

There is absolutely no doubt in the video. He looks like a slightly smaller than average guy but with breasts implanted. Real women would have little chance against him - as the fight showed.

I don't see a problem.... after all we're to understand that women can fight just like men in COMBAT. Well guess what honey.... stepping in a ring with rules and referee is a lot EASIER than combat.

hahahahahahaha.

I love the libs who always spout about how "some" women could actually fight a man and win. Well here's a great example of a guy whose balls were cut off, only weighs 145 and beat down another woman in 39 seconds. Imagine if he'd of had a knife.

This is all too confusing for me. I’m still stuck on whether we should call the cat “he” after neutering.

If this were the other way around the story would be about the sexist world we live in where a girl isn’t allowed into a mans sport.

If you just cut your junk off and don’t have some extenuating circumstance for doing so then I think being barred from competing against real women is just fine. We don’t let Dad’s play on their sons little league teams.

To me this guy is a coward.

He should be ashamed of himself .

He is a man beating up on women. Cutting his crank off doesn’t change a thing. He is a eunoch, not a female.

Why don’t we just let the transgenders compete against each other? Unless said person is born with both sets of organs, male and female, then whatever they were born with is what they are, no matter whether or not they are castrated, neutered, spayed or whatever. One is what one is. Until such time as the DNA can be changed permanently, one is what one is.

It’s really fun to watch the confusion over this kind of thing. Obviously, this is a man. So when you have a man competing with women, good chance he will win.

Cutting off a penis does not make a man a woman.

At least the source site did us a favor by retranslating back to the male pronouns (neutered as the perp may be).

The regular media is all for playing pretend right along with the reality-challenged “transgenders”.

I love the libs who always spout about how "some" women could actually fight a man and win.

And they're right. One swift kick could be enough.

I agree with the points about how disgusting this is, right up there with bug chasing and gift giving and all of this other crap that we're being told to accept as normal. But pretending women can't hurt men is not only delusional, but has led to policies like the VAWA that basically ignore female violence against males.

The girls on the LPGA would squash all but the top 2000 men golfers in the world. Because there are so few transsexuals, there might be 1 or 2 ( or zero) who could compete in the LPGA.

The only place a man or transsexual might have an advantage is off the tee. The girls are hitting about 240 with the top players hitting about 265-280. Most male college players are hitting about that far with the pros on the tour hitting about 310.

It is not going to that much of an advantage to be transsexual on the LPGA. Especially since 3/4 of the game is about accuracy on the approach shots and consistency in the short game.
