A few of my favorites are "The Longest Day" (John Wayne...need I say more?), "They Were Expendable", "Since You Went Away" (I know, I know..not exactly a military tribute film but a tribute of those who kept the home fires burning), "The Best Years of Our Lives"....all great movies to remember those who gave some and all!!

Almost every military/war movie made before 1970. Especially those made within 20 years of WW ll.

You know, you remind me of another great one....”The Patriot”. We sure could use a few of those today!

Tupelo - I even enjoy what they deemed “propaganda” movies like “Stage Door Canteen”.

Does “The Dirty Dozen” count?

A less well known one I like is “So Proudly We Hail” about the nurses in the Philippines with Claudette Colbert and Veronica Lake.

Anything with John Wayne, we were soldiers, pretty much all movies from before 1970.

I've been watching old films lately, it makes me so sad. America used to be so wholesome, so patriotic, filled largely with good, honest, hardworking, patriotic people. People went to church, they dressed properly, they served their country, they raised families and had good American values.

Now, walk through any large American city -- with the hipsters, flaunting weirdos, the gangstas, the avante-garde metrosexuals...Its like a freakshow. Its like the bar scene from starwars. Its perplexing almost...How did it happen?

“Sergeant York”

Gary Cooper and Walter Brennan, need more to be said?

June Lockhart, Ward Bond, and Noah Beery Jr. were also in the movie.
