Plants survive on light and water alone, so why cant humans?
A Seattle woman is putting that question to the test in an experiment some find inspiringthough others see it as misguided and dangerous. British-born Naveena Shine, 65, stopped eating on May 3 in to discover whether she could subsist on water, sunlight and tea, and is documenting her efforts on Facebook and YouTube.
The extreme fast, which she says she intends to try for at least 40 days and perhaps four to six months, is apparently tied to Shines New Age beliefs about the universe. Obscure Yogis called breatharians have also attempted the practice, she told Seattles Fox affiliate, KCPQ.
A vast amount of time, effort and resources go into merely putting food on the table. If humans did not have to eat, we could turn our planet back into a place of beauty.
(S)he also makes note on Facebook of unpleasant-sounding side effects such as weakness, throwing up bile, dizziness, and frozen hands.

The nazis experimented along these lines back in the forties. It seems lots of people kept without adequate food simply could not survive on sunlight and water.
With luck she will croak within 3 weeks!!!!
From the article: "British-born Naveena Shine, 65..."
She's way, way out of the running.
If humans did not have to eat, we could turn our planet back into a place of beauty.
If it rained shiny bright freshly minted silver dollars every afternoon, we'd all be rich, too.
Interesting how the most obvious escapes her. Went hiking here in my state last week, beautiful scenery, then ate a pizza last night.
Seems so obvious doesn’t it.
I saw a video of a British breath-arian. She talks about the importance of breathing, light, etc. She also admits to cheating once in a while, due to old habits, when filmed eating a slice of cake.
I wonder how she accounts for the vast number of living creatures that starve to death with plenty of water and sunlight at their disposal.
Even plants require more than sunlight and water.
And every form of life upon it is drawing nutrients from the environment about it, as has always been the case.
How can anyone this stupid have lived this long to begin with?
If all plants required was sunlight and water, then plants would be made completely out of water. If she wanted to be a plant, then she should also eat dirt, and manure.

Heck, cars don’t even need light and water... just give ‘em a petroleum enema every so often and they’re happy.
Maybe she should try that...
>> Obscure Yogis called breatharians have also attempted the practice
There’s a reason why they’re obscure.
Don't forget to rotate every couple of days...
I’m a “breatharian,” too. No matter how hard I try, my diaphragm keeps pumping air in and out of my lungs.
Survive on sunlight in Seattle?
She’s dead.
Hey, lady...people aren’t plants. Go get a remedial education in biology (if you are still living). What a complete pinhead. This brings to relevance the attorney during the clintoon scandals who stated “I’m not a potted plant!”
Sounds like a good way to weed out some of the kooks.
Nice that she’s so enamored of plants. She’ll be feeding them soon.
