Monday July 4, 1988 Who has been listening to Rush since then? - Vanity

Posted on 07/04/2013 1:31:04 PM PDT by SMGFan

I heard Rush on WABC when he first started his local show on 07/04/1988. He began a national show separate from NYC on August 1st (?) I remember the Iran Air Flight 665 being shot down. I have listened to him ever since.

Has anyone else listened to him regularly since then? Is Rush still relevant 25 years later?

Sometime during his first week on Phoenix radio, back when KFYI was 910 AM, I think.

For some reason, I'm always surrounded by those known as "liberals", family, friends, work, school, always dating liberal women...you name it. Seems like no matter where I go, I'm "in country" and surrounded.

And then, one day on my way to ASU, I tune in to Rush on KFYI after seeing him on their billboard by I-10 near Sky Harbor.

He was a major sanity save for me at the time. Been listening ever since.

I listened to Rush in the mid 80’s before he went national. He was on a Sacramento radio station then.

I started listening to Rush in about 1989. I traveled a lot in those days and ran across him on an AM station. I have listened ever since.

I’ve listened to Rush since August 1988 and even back in those early days I knew that Rush was the BEST radio host I ever heard.

The same I’ve listened since 1992. I think he has become more serious over the years. To put it another way he has decreased his use of humor. I miss that. Further, humor has the benefit of reducing to proper proportion today’s exalted egos.

Me! I heard him the first week he was on the air nationally and have listened ever since. I remember when the moving van from CA lost is furniture, I remember caller abortions, I remember The Made For TV Movie of the Week about the Gulf War, I remember Dan’s Bake Sale...

I still remember the day I first heard him in 1989. So amazed by someone actually speaking the truth. I still listen occasionally if I’m going someplace in the car, but I’m usually too busy.

I started listening to Rush in the early 1990s. A friend of mine had told me about him a number of times, and said I should start listening to his program. However, the first time I heard Rush was not on the radio, but, of all places, on the Phil Donahue Show. The gym that I went to at the time had TVs mounted around the room, and always had on either Oprah or Donahue. This particular day, Rush was a guest on his show, and Donahue made the mistake of asking him about his views on women in the military. Rush responded by describing his proposal for the creation of the “All-American First Calvary Amazon Battalion.” Women would be assigned to their units and housed together based on their menstrual cycle. If hostilities broke out, we would send in whoever was experiencing PMS at that particular moment, ensuring total victory and complete destruction of the enemy. Donahue and the women in the audience went nuts, much to Rush’s delight. I have been listening to him ever since.

I started listening about January 1989 on WCHS in Charleston, WV. It was a two hour show then. When he went to 3 hours, WCHS didn't initially carry the 3rd hour, so I listened on some scratchy (to me) AM station in Huntington, WV.

I don't listen so much now. Rush is fine, I just don't have much interest in hearing about the shenanigans of the left. It is like a radio show describing the sun coming up in the morning.

Didn’t even know about him until I moved to Houston in 1992 and discovered him on KTRH. Been listening ever since.

Don’t remember the year, but was there when his program began airing in Detroit.

I remember my first impression: ‘This guy sounds like. Bruce Williams!’ Turned out he was doing a dead-on IMPRESSION of Bruce Williams...

I’ve continued to listen through the years, except for a short period when he was on a weaker station that I couldn’t pick up at work. It’s a rare day that I don’t catch at least part of his show.
