It used to be you could pretty much determine someone's age by what he or she was wearing. Not anymore.
I blame cargo shorts.
Cargo shorts bridged the fashion gap between generations a while back, and since then the lines of demarcation have been steadily eroding.
There was a time when the young dressed trendy, the middle-aged claimed conformity, seniors occupied the land of matching fuddy-duddy.

Just thought it was a case of pot and kettle.
I love my cargo shorts. and my cargo pants. Anyone that doesn’t can stfu or bite me. When did FR become fashion police? I have no respect for the fashion opinions of anyone that things carrying plenty of extra gear is not a good idea. The best part of cargo pants is I don’t have to sit on my wallet all day. Anyone that would rather sit on their wallet than look ‘uncool’ is a moron in my book.
My wife is all black too...even some leather britches here and there*
A little grey too....but no 50 shades of it....that ain’t happening....”chagrin”
* u obviously already know this but only thin women can wear leather britches well
I saw Love It To Death and Billion Dollar Babies tours
Early 70s
Alice could sure feed that teen angst
And with Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner too
Hard to beat
When I heard Lou Reeds Rock and Roll Animal a summer or two later u knew instantly where I knew that sound from
Great era ti grow up in from early 60s to 80 or so music wise
Except of course Disco... I despised it
Posted like a full-grown adolescent ... just like me!
Wow! Thank you, dear!
Fun stuff indeed. I love it!
Yeah I wear cargo shorts pretty much mid-May to mid-October.
For “formal” occasions I switch the t-shirt to a golf shirt LOL.
I see lots of different gals in leather pants.
Bless their hearts, some really give it the ol’ team try.
:)
There actually are age cues in cargo shorts. It’s just that they’re subtle. Younger shorts are baggier and longer, with pouchier pockets. Older is a little more fitted and shorter — shorter as in right at the knee versus below it — with flatter pockets. The other cue is the shoe. Young guys wear flip flops with no strap around the ankle. For older guys its TEVA type sandles with an upper strap. You also see loafers with no socks but you have to careful with those or you’ll look goofy.
I like cargo shorts the same way that I like jeans. They’re easy and you can wear anything with them. They look good with a t-shirt, a polo shirt, an untucked button down long sleeve shirt, even a sweater.
I can’t imagine Walter Cronkite being in the company of so many Republicans, much less enjoying himself.
Rock band photos from a few decades ago can be hilarious! (They really wore that?)
If shorts aren't your thing, there's always Utilikilts.
Lotsa pockets, and guaranteed to make you the center of attention wherever you are.
You were all good til you said “crocs” NOOOOOOO!
Who’s front row center?
It’s the leather trimmed ones if that helps...I’m old and on my feet on pavement or concrete a lot everyday
I don’t wear them for dress up
Dress up is lucky jeans or cords and a Peter millar cashmere blazer in black or navy
Casual dress is a Pendleton shirt ...with jeans and desert boots
I used to wear top button closer but my calls that cholo style
Verboten
No need to dress much anymore frankly
I know that I dressed better as a Virginia teenager than I did before becoming a SoCal loser. Weejuns, Gant shirts, Corbin slacks, we looked like we were going to Yale or something.
In SoCal I’m pretty sure there’s been more than once that I’ve managed to wear shorts every single day for a year. Add some boat shoes or tennies or maybe hiking boots and I’m styling.
You were a preppie!
Little known fact is the south is more preppie than Connecticut
That series Southern Charm nails Deep South Haspel look
“You were a preppie!”
That’s what we were aspiring to be in Arlington. Once in awhile I manage to remember how to dress well.
