“Ghetto Tracker” was an app that helped you avoid dangerous slums. Now it’s gone.

Ghetto Tracker” was the name of an application that exploded with controversy on its launch. So much controversy in fact that it’s already changed the name to “Good Part of Town” and apparently been taken down. The application was proposed for savvy consumers to avoid dangerous parts of town by showing which ones are ghetto, or unsafe.

As a response to the public backlash the site has been removed with a picture stating that “It’s not worth the trouble.” The app reportedly didn’t even work properly. Critics had pointed out that the site listed areas such as Greenwich Village in Manhattan as ghettos. The reason was that the median income in that neighborhood is $75,000. So it appears the app was targeting based solely on income, rather than actual crime levels. So there is definitely a wrong-headed way of thinking in that sense. However, it appears that people won’t be able to enjoy any application that might increase their safety planning as it has been deemed “politically incorrect” and “racist” by the Internet, so it must be destroyed.

Hell, just look out your car window and you will know. Unless you’re a brain-dead lib who has embraced “multiculturalism”, it’s pretty easy to tell if you have strayed into the ghetto.

Am I anywhere near Martin Luther King Blvd?

Then I’m in ghetto land.

In Austin, it is anywhere east of IH 35. I stay out of Austin as much as possible since I retired, but still make a trip there once in a while. I refuse to go to East Austin, except for ABIA, but use the toll road to get there.

The only bright spot is that soon many of these MLK Boulevards will be renamed “Barrack Hussein Obama Boulevard”. Barry deserves to have his name associated with all the crime, decay and violence.

I don’t need an app for that. Am I anywhere near Martin Luther King Blvd?

Even race-obsessed agitators and bureaucrats inadvertantly serve a useful purpose with their naming conventions. Normal lawful people know to avoid MLK anything. And how many schools have been named after Obama by now? Wise to avoid those neighborhoods also, but good chance there's an MLK Blvd nearby anyway. :)

The name Martin Luther King Boulevard is a public service. It is a needed inclusion - to protect white people by letting them know what areas to keep out of. Truth hurts...but it’s true.

Wait a minute! For years, the left has told us crime arose in certain areas because of "economic disenfranchisment," and that criminals were criminals because they could not find good jobs in their areas...so which is it?

Wasn’t this the pawn shop that provided would be assassin Hinckley his .22 revolver and special restricted Sky Marshal ammo? It has been over 30 years but the name seems familiar.

Guess there’s not enough crime there for anyone to bother tracking it.

No. The pawn shop from where Hinckley bought his (”Devastator”) bullets was from a pawn shop called Rocky’s pawn shop.

Hi. Did some looking and found the following from an NY Times story dated April 1, 1981 by Charles Mohr.
ATF traced the purchase of two Rohm RG 14 revolvers sold to Charles Hinckley on Oct 13, 1980 at Randy ‘s Pawn Shop owned by Isaac Goldstein. They did the trace in 16 minutes.
